First off the top, thanks to Ryan for the awesome song post! Such a rare gem it is! 💀⚡🥀 Thank God Almighty, and that soundboard hippie who plugged the main cord back in! Not a moment later either, not much was lost but it was right at the apex of the jam as the keyboard player was taking us back up to the peak. Betchya a funkengruver kicked it loose accidentally with dancing' feet! Man! Sure wish we could get a "Dave's Patch" on that?

Wow. Jerry was a powerful steel string gutiar player, yielding his notes into water flipping off his guitar as fast as springs of water from a full powered hose w/ the nozzle slightly blocked by your thumb, just saturating the lawn of your mind with diamond daggers of intelligence and joy all over the place, like very rich, glistening diamond soul manure. Then Melvin Seals comes in to take the jet sweep around the end, not backing down but rather taking the ball from Jerry, almost knocking him over as he runs by and takes the onslaught up field for a 20 yard gain, dodging defenders and flat running over - no - jumping over linebackers as he deflects oncoming free safeties w/ jukes, stiff arms and up the sideline he goes. Jerry follows close behind. The opening of this song - Jerry's first solo is a class action lawsuit describing the finer nuances and details of guitar drum interaction. This is pure genius and one of hundreds of examples that most likely will never see the light of day as official releases.

Jerry pickin one lead throughout while leaving room for vocals and keys. Tight and funky, melodic and soulful. And the tone, my God. Jerry blew past EC in the first few licks and goodnight. Jerry space is his own to explore and we are lucky passengers.

Ryan Hostetler Thanks! I did not know that. I remember seeing melvin seals and thinking his style sounded a bit different than what I though, I guess now I know why! Definitely some of my favorite keys playing ever. Not only does he upstage jerry but he pushes jerry into a frenzied overdrive!

Not sure this is Melvin Seals. He didn't join Jerry Band until the end of 1980, afaik. Ozzie Ahlers is most likely who is playing keys.
