The Best TIME for LAWN CARE // Mowing and Spraying Before Dark

I have started to thoroughly enjoy working on the lawn in the evening and right before dark. In today's video I wanted to highlight mowing and spraying of some liquid fertilizer and humic from my simple lawn solutions lawn essentials box right as the sun was setting. The winds calm down and it's a fantastic time to put out liquid products and enjoy the weather as well.

This is the first year that I decided to make it a point and cut 3 times a week. All I can say is it’s a lot harder to see the line for the next pass. I was a 1 time a week mow before this, it has made a huge difference.

Your yard is looking top notch Ryan. I wish we could reach the 90s. We've had nothing but rain for almost 2 weeks. Actually had to turn our heat on a few days ago. Looks like it's starting to warm up this week though so maybe I can get out in the yard. All my mows lately have been a hurry up before the rain comes type.

We've had very little rain, hot days and my irrigation system has issues and has been turned off until the fall. So far, so good ... a few hot spots that I've done some deep watering with the hose but otherwise looks good. Made a mental note of those hot spots and in the fall I'll see what's going on. This is a real test of all the work I've put in on conditioning my soil and encouraging root growth.

So in regards to rye grass, in another video you mentioned that the problem with rye grass is that since it is so dense that even when you cut at 2 1/2 inches the lawn still looks messy. So you have to cut it shorter so the grass looks nicer.

Ryan is a natural. I wonder how well they would do up against tough obstacles in Canada such as a prohibition on the use of lawn chemicals to deal with crabgrass. The challenge to grow nice grass is completely different in Canada as it is in the USA. The chemicals help to cover a multitude of sins.

I haven't sprayed my front yard or put any pre-emergent on it. Any crabgrass I find I pull by hand...a thick turf mowed often is pretty resilient to many things

Best way to handle giant ruts in the lawn? Had to have a giant Backhoe come in and fix a septic pipe and it left some 4-5 inch deep ruts. Topsoil to fill and reseed? Probably should remove old grass first.

Nice video Ryan. I'm depressed. New house with sodded KBG lawn on clay soil. Looked pretty good for while. Then two days ago, everything started turning brown from the heat and lack of rain. Supposed to get rain Friday so I probably won't water tomorrow (Thursday) and just hope we get enough to help cool it down. I'm thinking of overseeding with TTTF this fall since it's supposed to be more drought tolerant. Things sure can change quick in this world of lawns.

I would probably start working more on the soil if possible. It's very common to have newer sod suffer because it doesn't have a great root system yet

It appears you upgraded your granular spreader to a bigger Scott's. I had the Scotts turf builder edge guard DLX model and it kept breaking the plastic wheels at the hub connection. I guess they're fine for flat lawns like you have but I have a hill that is hard an equipment. I sold it and bought an Earthway spreader with real wheels/tires. Night and day difference.
