The boy is Tuomas, He says he's a man with a boy's heart and the use of that pseudonym often occurs in his lyrics. It's Dead Tuomas Poem in actuality.

Welcome home, Ryan. 'Come in, the fire's warm, burn the rope, and dance some more'. Another genuine reaction. Thank you. Such a powerful song, played with due respect and pathos by the band. Tuomas, as always, feels every note and, like you pointed out, even the normally ebullient Emppu is reserved. That, for me, is one apsect that sets Nightwish apart. They never simply just play their songs, they emote them, be it happy or sombre, they absolutely understand and feel Tuomas's compositions. They never simply 'go through the motions'. This is also true of their happy songs. When Nightwish are enjoying themselves, you know it! There are few bands which enjoy their music like Nightwish do.

I just LOVE it when people LOVE what I LOVE, this song does something to me, tears rolling down cheeks sorta something. Floor does it, Emppu does it, the melody does it and behind it all it's Tuomas who's really done it... great reaction to a very heartfelt song, you did it justice!

Tuomas - the dead boy, the poet, the dead poet, the lonely soul, the Ocean soul, the maestro! Sing what you can't say - or get Floor to deliver it with empathy and passion!... and Emppu's straight face during the solo. "The mother of all Nightwish songs.... about what Nightwish means and has meant to me"..... Tuomas's self-written eulogy. - before TPATP. I love how you "get" the song! Well done!!!

About the meaning of the song by Tuomas: lt is such of a personal song...A sort of a...The basic idea is that if l were to die tomorrow - lf l really died, there'd be so much l wanted to say. There are so many people whom l should thank - So many l should apologize to but haven't apologized. So many people who l should tell to go fuck themselves but haven't had the guts to do so far. l just had to write a song for them. A Finnish man rarely voices his thanks or apologies but with music it's easier, at least for me. My mother and father are the best people in the world but l haven't been able to tell them what they mean to me. lf they listen to the song, read the lyrics, maybe they'll find themselves there, too, and understand.

The look on Emppu's face when he finished that solo hits so hard. Especially because he's always such a goofball. He knows what this song means. I think a big reason why the second part sounds so very different is the drums. They make the song sound really light and upbeat compared to the first part. If you should watch this song with Tarja and Jukka, you'll find the song is much more a whole. Just because Jukka's drums sound so differently.

Nightwish is just an epic band. Full of extraordinary talented musicians. Unmatched number of epic live performances including the vocals by Floor. But as far as I'm concerned this performance solidifies Floor as a living legend. She mesmerizes, hypnotizes and takes you on a magical and emotional fantasy.

Tuomas seems to find balance by oscillating in every way imaginable -- between light and dark -- fantasy and science -- diving into humanity, then hovering above the moon. He seems to slough off things that most would be thoroughly entangled by -- sometimes painfully -- and fly away. Peter Pan? I don't know. Who is his "Captain Hook" then? There must be one. The story requires one. ••• Anyway, I digress. This song makes me reflect. Thanks! Peace (-:

Hi Ryan, good to see you again, i will forever be grateful to everybody in Nightwish (with Floor), because many, many years ago i stopped listening to the radio because i got sick and tired of the soulless music that was on there, no passion except for a quick buck. There music is so amazing, the passion and emotions in their music, but also in their performances. Still not listening to the radio by the way, thanks again for a very nice reaction and i hope to see you soon with another reaction, bye!

I am so happy you did this song - it in my top favorites. This is Nightwish in 600% coordination and corporations to give you (audience) the ultimate experience of this personal story. The techniques they all uses to enhance the story.... Even the lights are in it - no one is highlighted in periods. And Floor using loong straight tones and adding a little controlled vibration at the end - that's not easy done, and she does it over 2 - 3 octaves.... This is pure - - - Nightwish. Superb reaction from you - as usual 👍👌🤘🤘

This was THE Nightwish tearjerker back in the olden days, the one everyone wanted to hear live. I'm so glad they gave Floor a chance to perform it too. And yeah, that solo is possibly the most affecting one in their entire repertoire, as short as it is.

A bit too late for the party. Just wanted to say that countless of bands have amazing songs, but there is truly something special about NW songs. Emppu is still almost an unknown guitarist outside of the symphonic power metal musicians and fandom. At least I didn't come across many people mentioning what he can do with his melodic solos and the other guitar work. Which is remarkable and on the point. But what makes the NW songs ring out so much is a group effort of the whole band - Tuomas' heart in the songwriting and keyboards, Floor singing that drives the emotions from the lyrics home, Marco's amazing baseline (not to mention the beautiful guitar part with his double neck at the beginning), Troy on the second guitar (as talented as always) which helps Emppu to have more space for his playing. Not to mention Kai, holding back not to distract from the quieter moment of the song and later on bringing back the power. Such a pros, all of them.

I always love your input, you one of the reactions I always look forward to, because you feel the music deeply and it moves you, and I am the same. This song as you said, auto-biographical for Tuomas, he is the Songwriter, the Ocean Soul and yep the Dead Boy. I believe he was quoted as saying the spoken words by the boy, would be things he would love to tell the world if he died. He is a deep dude, but said he had a good childhood. Thank you Ryan, one of my many faves by Nightwish, tons more out there and they still going strong even without Marko.

Awesome reaction dude, thought I’d repost a comment from a guy called Hythix, which sums up perfectly my relationship with Nightwish. “They may not be your favourite band (by ‘you’ I mean everybody in general, collectively) and they don’t need to be. They may not be your favourite sound, and they don’t need to be. But they are Home. They are where you go for Feels. They are where you go when everyone else let you down. They are Family. You go a week or two without any Nightwish, listening to everything else but them, and your first song back with them will have you in tears without fail, each time. They don’t need to be the best, or even your favourite. They are the most important. Thanks Hythix, you are a 🤩

Definitely one of my favorite Ryan. Floor and Tuomas and all of them take you on this emotional journey. Then Floor climaxes this song with those powerful vocals. Amazing. This is a very emotional and personal song for Tuomas. The small child's voice represents Tuomas speaking. When asked what this song was about "Tuomas has said about this song, that it's about if he were to die tomorrow, what would he want to say to everyone that he loves, and that love him..." Notice the small boy on the screen reaching out to the flying swans on the screen. The swan is the guide to the afterlife in Finnish mythology. He is reaching out to implore them to take him with to the other side. A beautiful song filled with sadness from an unfulfilled destiny. Here are the spoken words, the Dead Boy's Poem If you read this line Remember not the hand that wrote it Remember only the verse Songmaker's cry, the one without tears For I've given this its strength And it has become my only strength Comforting home, mother's lap, chance for immortality Where being wanted became a thrill I never knew The sweet piano writing down my life Teach me passion, for I fear it's gone Show me love, hold the lorn So much more I wanted to give to the ones who love me I'm sorry Time will tell, this bitter farewell I live no more to shame, nor me, nor you And you I wish I didn't feel for you anymore A lonely soul An ocean soul

Watching Nightwish is always a treat. And its a special pleasure to watch along with a reactor that truly gets it. The talent of the band and quality of the music is evident to virtually anyone with a pulse, but there are a select few that understand and feel the depth of Tuomas' songwriting and the reverent passion with which it is expressed by each member of the band. We watch reactions to share the experience of music, and its a wonderful thing when we see someone experience it at a depth equal to our own. Great reaction.

ThiS song hits all the emotional buttons, I think, every artist, be it music, writing, the fine arts...all of the creative endeavors...goes through at one time or another in their lives. I know I did when I was young...trying to find an outlet for my painting and drawing. Luckily, I had an aunt who went through a bad time in her life, and she helped me understand the ups and down...but most of all..she encouraged me...and up until she passed a few years ago, she was telling me to keep pushing, that I would find my "voice!" I am 64 years old....and I understand what she was trying to say...and I listen to that voice now! My physical problems have made it difficult at times...but I have found ways around them! I enjoy your insight into music...it's interesting to listen to someone with a lot of experience in the field!!!

Ryan !! Wonderful to see you again, hope you're doing well, some new ink ? I wonder if you remember I believe I told you some time ago that "boy" was a very common Tuomas pseudonym, amongst others, things then start to make sense. Go look carefully, Tuomas has taken two lines from Shakespeare in this, Sonnet 71 - " Nay, if you read this line, remember not the hand that writ it"; and one from Sonnet 72 which I will leave you to search out. :-) I find something very powerful with floor standing arms out and the imposing orchestral music. This song has provided some extra lubrication for my new de-cataracted eyes. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .As usual. Best wishes from me and thank you for the reaction.
