I agree Rina voice is like western pop singers. When she sings she does descending notes like a guitar would. She also has no accent. Of course pop singers in the US do not have Li-sa-X and Hazuki to provide vituoso guitar playing. Li-sa-X is such a great guitarist.

This is pretty cool, it kinda sounds like an early 2000's rock... but way better. Wich doesn't surprise me at all because japanese musicians are really good with taking old genres/styles and put these little "extras" to make them stand out

Li-sa has performed covers of Street Fighter and other video game music on Japanese TV shows, but she's still just a 16-17 year old high school student. I am half-excited and half-terrified to see what will happen in the future.

Rina is just so good. Having the guitars pull back during the verses and then build for the choruses prevents the continuous power metal belt since she doesn't have to fight for space. Once Li-sa-X, 17, graduates from high school next year Hazuki is going to be super busy if Li-sa-X wants to go straight into touring instead of going to college. Librarian Hazuki > garage band Hazuki.

I've been busy with work lately, and I saw this video earlier. Since Li-sa-X and SiM are from my hometown "Shonan", I secretly support them. "Shonan" is called "California in Japan" and music activities are active. This song is my favorite, and I'm honestly surprised that Li-sa-X is this young and chose this vocalist Rina and is doing this kind of music. And it's very interesting to see what kind of guitarist he will be in the future. By the way, how does Rina's English when a native hears it?

With Rina, Li-sa found a real gem! She has an amazingly pleasant warm tone, and range to die for. It's like what Paul Gilbert did when he recruited Eric Martin for Mr Big (... and yes Li-sa has been a Paul Gibert student, she probably took some advices too). And guitar-wise, Hazuki is such a perfect complement and she has many occasions to shine, it's not only focused on Li-sa. I just can't wait for their first album (of course, Li-sa is still at school, that's why there's only a couple of singles untill now).

The progressions (I think it's no. 5 or 6. We number each progression type) are like what we play in church, Po! It has a Hillsong vibe, less the astronomical leads. Akane and Misa would fit in here nicely, with Kanamicho composing, as she said she want to for other bands. Very soulful, Po!

Ryan! Greetings! The rain is about to stop at last! I will have to check the damage inn the garden... Very interesting reaction indeed, and I discovered new extremely talented (and so bleedin' young!) artists. Now who is playing drums, piano and bass? Session musicians? The singer must have been US-educated judging from her fluency and accent! I truly think we are only discovering the tip of an iceberg with an enormous base. In a country of 124 million souls, women count for slightly more than half. The same women will have or have had basic musical education since kingergarten, while boys will be active mostly in sports. Musical education will come far later if it ever comes. There are some notable exceptions (Asterism) but male bands will appear at high school, meaning a 10-year gap with women. No wonder most good rock groups are all female in Japan these days! We are in for a long and pleasurable haul! Best regards, Robert-Gilles

She's been working on a solo album during the pandemic, as the Nightwish tour wasn't happening. It's different from Nightwish, a conscious choice. In the 80's and 90's there were a lot of songs like this, minus the virtuoso guitars, playing on FM radio in the US. They called it MOR, for middle of the road. I didn't like it then, same as Ryan. Usually the singing was by some pop diva like CHER or Bette Midler, and the instrumentation was manufactured by a producer, rather than created by a band of musicians. The gang I hung with just called it commercial music. Maybe Japan never went through that period and so doesn't have the bad memories of it.
