I would say it's more of a morale thing, if the enemy sees hundreds of arrows being shot (even if they don't hit anything) it lowers there moral by a lot.

A lot of work is off camera! Such as me designing the bridge in singleplayer just so I can get the idea for it in creative and then it’s just a matter of resource gathering and placing it down
