It's nice to know I'm not alone on this. Lately I've been practicing this sort of routine where I constantly compliment myself even if I don't feel like doing it, and it's been surprisingly effective at building my self-esteem and overall confidence. And although I'm not able to accurately tell if a person is interested or not, I've learned that sometimes we just gotta take that leap of faith and just go for it. If it works out, then it works out. But if not, that's okay too. It just means it's time to let go and not use up any more precious time trying to be with that person. The right person for you will come with time, it just might take a little bit of trial and error. We've got this ^·^

When I was in school, my childhood crush got a few of his friends to ask me if I liked him, and me thinking it was just a prank and worrying that they'd make fun of me, my dumb ass said "ew no!" Turns out he got pretty upset when he heard that and I ruined all chances I had with him 😭 I tried to confess to him a few years later after I grew a pair, but it seems I scarred him and he just ignored me... A big one for me is his level of curiosity. If he is interested in a personal relationship, he wants to know more about you, and no detail seems too small. I've found if a guy isn't interested, he may ask a cursory question, but does not seem invested in the response or let it lead to more conversation. Information gathering, for guys, is a telltale sign. I think this isn't just a positive sign in the getting to know you phase, but continues throughout the relationship. When his curiosity about your day, your thoughts, your likes/dislikes evaporates, I think it spells trouble.

Nah. The first part is right, guys will laugh at your jokes (even the dumb ones) if they’re interested. Him having a dry conversation or not joking isn’t as cut and dry. Some guys social skills aren’t as good, many don’t have as much confidence as they should while some just aren’t funny guys. He might still be interested but too shy/scared to make a move because he doesn’t have the best conversational skill set to create chemistry with the girl he likes.

Other day, I was in the closet to grab something and she walked past me and said " have fun in the closet." And shut the door on me lol closed it. The other day, I was riding a machine down the hallway and she said " I want a ride." But she hates riding the machine I ride she said. Or she puts her leg out in front of me and say " watch out." To answer your question, I told him through text after playing useless mind games. *A snippet of our texts:* I told him, "erm, i have feelings for you." He said, "But I don't like you." It hurt like a b****, I was so sure he liked me, i did my research and he displayed the signs that he liked me! Maybe it faded overtime, maybe I overestinated our bond?! Anyways, I told him it was fine and that I'm sorry for making things awkward. The thing that sucked was that we were in the same friendship group - had a few months of school left, so seeing him in college every day after that was hard. I went to the toilets to sob, I didn't have anyone who I could tell; anyone that would comfort me. I never was good at socialising and I lost a friend that tolerated me and was nice to me. Idk how he felt, but he avoided me, made remarks about me. He even outed our convo to his other girl friend. Love how she encouraged him to make snide remarks about me in my presence. Overall, it wasn't a pleasant experience. Perhaps you're lucky enough not to encounter him after or maybe he won't be immature about it. I could've waited but I got impatient. I wanted closure and I'm free now from the "what ifs". Of course, from time to time my mind wanders what was wrong with me etc. I'm glad he rejected me tbh. Hey Samantha! Based on what you've said so far, it sounds like you're in a great position with this boy right now. My best advice would be to let him keep doing what he's doing, slowly pursuing you. I know doubts can creep up in your head, but just enjoy the fact that you're both clearly having fun with the interactions you've had together so far... all positive signs! Don't focus on the result of making him your boyfriend. He's naturally progressing that direction with you already 😉 One tip I can give you is to ask him questions and try to find out what kinds of activities he likes. If he mentions one you like, let him know. You can say "hey, that would be fun to maybe do together sometime." If he's shy, that should help him build confidence with you 🙂

@@laptopreader Oh gosh, he's 4 years younger than me too.. the hell is happening? :)) He's also on another project and the company has no policies against relationships. (not that it can happen...) He's working in IT and I am a data entry operator, no similarities in projects at all. It's hard, I know.. I really think about giving chances to some other guys, this relationship is clearly not going to go anywhere. If it took so much time and nothing happened it's clear that is not worth it, it's just infatuation, we really need to find somebody who would show us the same love. In my case, I showed that I like him and I received only a mix of cold and hot type of behavior and it's not enough isn't it?

Voice pitch has always been a comical one for me. Not so much personally, but when I listen to guys talk to other women at work. When I’ve listened to convos, it’s like the thing I sometimes pickup the most, is the guy’s pitch going higher, it’s how it showed me that one guy wasn’t as gay as a number of us guessed he was. I don’t, however, find that with me usually. Either the guy simply isn’t interested, I don’t notice a change in pitch because I’m actually participating in the conversation and am distracted by Other mannerisms or he may actually speak in a deeper voice, trying to sound more manly. This could be because he is actually trying to sound more manly since he either is not actually interested anyway, sees me as a challenge or competition. I say this because I’m a woman who, while I’m often told how attractive I am, I am not a damsel in distress type. I know and do a lot of “guy things”, like with technology. So, either they’re not interested at all or maybe they feel the need to up their masculinity when they speak with me. Could also be that I have a rather deep voice that does fluctuate to high pitch at times so, the range might be confusing on a subconscious level. I’ve been through the staring thing. But, it was with a company president I used to work for. It was a work relationship that “seemed” to evolve from being treated angrily, like he did with most other employees, to being nicer in my employee reviews and offering to pour coffee for me. But, although he was definitely a catch, I never did anything about it because I was unsure what he was actually trying to convey. He’d always been a volatile personality, might’ve just been testing if I’d cross a racial line (he was white and I’m black), he was married at the time, I have too much respect for myself to risk placing myself in the position of office slut and, I knew that, if ANYTHING happened - I’d lose. So, although, when he sometimes stared and wouldn’t look away, I’d mouth “What?” to him, it was more in a way that I was saying to stop, because nothing was going to happen. I have been accused, by even my mother, of not “seeing” when a guy is interested though. Could be because no woman wants to suffer the embarrassment of looking as if she “knows” a guy is interested - when he isn’t. So, I m, typically, keep things professional. Also because, currently, I work in an office where, a lot of the guys are really nice. But, it can provide mixed signals as to whether they’re nice or interested when, they’re simply being your work brother. I had one guy, who I’ve barely worked with, recently reach across another woman in a meeting 3 times and clutch my forearm. Considering I know he has children and is likely married, I thought it weird. But, I know that there are men who, if they’ve mostly been raised by women, are more touchy-feely so, it can be more a sign of the physical comfort in touching, as per how they were raised, than them being interested in you. He hasn’t made any moves since then either and I don’t know that I’d be interested in him anyway.
