What a great and handsome young horse he is. Very willing and the level of trust with you from the get go tells me he’s going to train well. Sensitive but intelligent and thoughtful, he’ll be a very good riding companion for someone, either her or another, as she decides.👏

What a sweet friendly little guy! A couple minutes in, and I wasn't too sure about him being easily calmed. And by the end, he was so different, you could see he'd figured so much out. It was as though he realized "oh, I'm in class and I'm here to learn". His muzzle handshakes with Ryan at the end were adorable.

I learn so much every time you train a horse. I was bucked off once when the horse I was riding got scared and I landed like a cartoon character not hitting the rocks where hit...thank God!

It's definitely been of benefit to have had most of my riding experience on energetic, spooky, green, uncertain, disrespectful horses. It's taught me queues, patience, grit, persistence. I can also tell the difference between a horse that "knows better" and a horse that's just untrained or untrusting. I've met so many people that have only ever handled dead-broke predictable easy horses, and it's definitely a hindrance to their knowledge. This'll be an awesome experience for her.

Seems like a sweet natured horse really. Fresh off the pasture and new to the concept of learning or being taught but he let you, someone he bares knows who is not light weight, flop all over him and only seemed mildly concerned by it. I think the main issue is he is still not sure what you want a lot of the time.

When I watch these videos, I relate to my journey. I learned the process with a gentle and well trained horse. I gradually took on a series of horses with less and less training which helped me to improve my skills. Novices are expecting an awful lot to take on development of a totally untrained horse.

Not a bad colt at all, so far anyway. But, I wouldn't be buy a greenish 3 year unless I were experienced at starting colts, or could hire someone to help me out or train him for me. JMO.

That's a nice horse. I'm see she hasnt done more grooming. Just being with him and taking halter walks. That's where the relationship begins. I ground worked my horses 4 to 6 months before riding. They took great care of me!

This is now a favorite video of mine. I feel like a learned a lot. The first horse I ever owned was a dream and would do anything I asked with little to no hesitation and I worry about getting a new horse because I was so young and inexperienced back then and I want to make sure I do things properly next time in case the next horse isnt as forgiving as my first horse hahaha

This horse is the EXACT SAME as my 3 yr old!! Like, if you painted him buckskin and put him in my paddock I don't think I would notice. My boy is hyper when you first get him out (I give 1, he gives 1,000) then he gets sticky just like that. My boy is fine with everything people do around him but is sensitive to tools. AND he is a little head shy with tools too. It's crazy. I feel like I found his American twin.

i haven't even watched this video..only 2 minutes in - bht the answer is NO this is NOT THE RIGHT HORSE FOR HER!! She is needs a seasoned, broke, super broke 12 year old (not that that is even a guarantee) I wish people would realize it costs the same to take care of, feed, & vet a horse that works for you as it does to keep one that doesn't work for you..Being 52 years old, the last thing I need to buy is an unbroke 3 year old..

I’m a big fan of your videos, love your work however I do have a really big pet peeve with horse training and that’s where the halter is sitting on the horse. I believe this is the second video of yours I’ve seen where the halter is pretty low on the horses nose, just something to keep in mind in the future.

I've been breaking colts close to 40 years anywhere from 65 to 100 colts a year race horses though. For one thing you're just starting him . One thing the round pen is to big . Colts once they learn a bad habit that son-of-a-gun to get rid of and three to four days acting I can have him lunge in both directions without a without a lunge line make the circle that way he don't have much room to do all that crazy stuff
