I think it's the other way around, actually. I think their characters are becoming more like Jake and Max. The actors are putting a lot of their own personalities into Nick and Schmidt. So you're see layers of these actors in their characters. Love them!

Absolutely. They started out with Schmidt being really douchey in a "frat boy" sort of way, and you can tell Max leaned more into the OCD neurotic character more. Douchey in a more conceited bourgeois kind of way.

I love when comedy show actors are so much like their characters in reality. It just makes it so much better. Also I knew they did improv in the show! There are so many episodes where you see them laughing for real. And the episode where Winston stubs his toe when he and Schmidt are frontin on each other and Winston is wearing a hoodie as pants, I think that was real 🤣

i’m currently watching new girl..... for the 6th time. and every time i find something new and interesting and awesome about the show. it is soooo great. the cast is perfect and a lot of their qualities correspond with their characters it’s hard not to fall in love with them and with the show itself.
