I understand why she hasn’t made an album after Miseducation. It was perfect. It’s the Nutcracker. It’s Thriller. It’s Saturday Night Fever. A generational masterpiece. You don’t have to make another.

Plus she also stated her record label at the time was putting so much pressure on her to release another album. She said it was hard for her to get in that natural creative space again. Then her husband at the time was cheating on her with someone chick in her band. Lauren was fighting for her marriage and raising her kids, so she chose her family instead of the music industry.

Here stylistic choice a bit after the 2:00 mark at the line "Because no one loves you more than me." is just: *chef's kiss* It's like the tiniest thing, but changes the entire vibe of the line from the studio version. In the studio version, that line almost sounds like a plea. But in this version, it comes across way more confident, like she's convinced that it's true.

💜 When you are grown and your whole heart has been through every single line of this song, it moves you differently. I can't ever contain my emotions when I hear or sing this masterpiece. One of the best, realest, truest, songs, EVER written. Your music has saved me from some dark places. All hail to the Queen! Love you Lauryn. ❤

Whew, this song will take you out in any phrasing. This is the maturity... The difference of life experience. The no one that hurt us more in our 20s, fast forward 20 years later and your understanding of pain is more profound. That's what I hear. Not that it didn't hurt in our 20s but we've been thru more now. Things we couldn't have imagined back then. God bless.

It’s takes a lot to relive the emotional moments needed to bring this song to life in it’s original form. I understand now why she speeds it up! I completely understand it now.

I so wish this recording were better mic'd so that we didn't hear so much of the room and more Lauryn. Such a powerful voice. ❤

This made me feel a little like "sister act 2" vibes!! I'll love to see a third part of the movie, when Rita became a star and met the other students, years later! That will be awesome!!! Queen Lauryn ❤️

There’s a rare beauty in this performance that’s founded in her vulnerability, heartbreak, loss and yet Lauren and the pianist take me to a musical moment that moves me like very few others have, from sadness comes joy. If anyone is interested, Boy George sings a beautiful stripped back live performance of Victims in a small club, he too bares his soul. Peace
