The voice that rose up through that young boy, Ryan Toby, when he sang "Oh Happy Day" to the highest note as chills ran up from my feet and through my body, spine and above my head! Ryan Toby practiced singing Mariah Carey's songs and could hit whistle register notes. The high note in this song is an E6. The director knew about it, but the rest of the cast did not. It was planned for him to do that so they could get a genuine reaction out of everyone. Not only did Whoopi get taken by surprise, but look at the girl behind her. While the high note is so amazing... the two lines before in where he says "washed" both times with so much soul and just beautiful note choices... I absolutely love that. Sends chills up my spine every time. And not to sound like "that old guy", but I cannot remember the last time a movie had a musical number that moved me so much as this (I do love Anne Hathaway's version of 'I Dreamed a Dream' in Les Mis' though). I was 12 when Sister Act 2 came out and I like to think it helped to push me to be a musician.
