We HAD to take advantage of this unique opportunity and ride up this beautiful mountain without the stress of cars whizzing past us. It was the perfect day, has anyone else biked up this mountain?

@@ElevationEveryWeekend That's almost as dumb as on a unicycle! I guess the ultimate stupidity would be on a fat unicycle! Ha, ha! j/k (mostly) PS This is how I look at fatbikes on anything but snow and sand, "Hey, how can we make riding a bike harder, heavier and generally less enjoyable? THE FAT BIKE!!! Given I can ride a 15 pound marvel of carbon engineering, I'd much rather pick a squishy, slow, terribly-handling excuse for a bike." Conundrum. I see people riding them on pavement and dirt and wonder why on earth the bike industry has spent so much time, energy and money making bikes, and wheels specifically, nice and light. Makes absolutely no sense. Sorry, but the fad is over and for damn good reason! Would you like to know how I really feel about fat bikes now? :) :) :) :)

Amen. I just turned 52 yesterday AND BECAUSE OF THIS CHANNEL….. I ran a half marathon on a whim by myself and hit the pain cave but…. I prayed and acknowledged everyone I was running for, everyone I loved, and I wanted to quit but I knew Ryan Van Duzer wouldn’t so I didn’t. I have military drill today and I’m hurting so I do recommend training a bit 😅. Thanks Ryan and Dana and everyone else on your channel. You have inspired me beyond belief! Age is a blessing ❤

I rode this in 2008 from Evergreen. The tingling in my fingers due to lack of oxygen is something I'll never forget. For those worried about traffic, its pretty light and, cars going up are going pretty slow and all gave me space. On the way down, you can easily outpace the cars on all but a few sections, in fact, figuring out how to best pass the cars is the toughest part.

Great video! Back in 2003 at age 55, on the Bike Tour of Colorado, I rode up Mt. Evans on my recumbent and loved it. Just me and the marmots. It was 32 degrees at the summit! The best memory is blazing down the mountain as a lightning storm approached. I hit 52 mph on my cyclometer on a smooth stretch, fastest ever...and then it happened...a stone flew in my mouth(passing car??) and it really hurt. Wait, that's no stone, it's a bee! It stung the inside of my cheek as my mouth was too dry to spit it out immediately. When I got back to 6000' feet and joined friends, they asked what happened as my right cheek was all puffed up, but I had the biggest crooked grin from the thrill of the ride! Your drone shots really add a lot. Got a DJI mini 2 earlier this year but haven't tried shooting while riding...yet! Look forward to it, though, as your videos inspire me to become a drone biker. Thanks do much!

Thanks for the professional and uplifting video! I rode up in September 1980 with a friend (ran it too in the early '70s) , but our experience was more typical for Mt. Evans weather. I don't know if you watch much tv Ryan, seems like you might be a person that doesn't do that much tv with how much fun you have outside, but the music in this video was beautiful, it made me think of the show This is Us, which is a show about a family and it follows the family as they deal with realistic things that all families deal with in one way or another, it's a very emotional show, I've cried watching multiple episodes and scenes, some happy and some sad cries, it's all good. This video made me just as emotional as the show, those views and the whole idea of being on top of that mountain with everything else being below you, is just incredible and makes you think about life. I can totally understand where Dana's head was at that moment because I had some of the same thoughts, though I imagine that it's nowhere near as much as actually being there. You have a great day Ryan and Dana and to all your friends and family, you guys add so much happiness in this world and make the world a better place.
