Theres also an animation where rey dau will pick up one of the smaller ceratonoth and fly off with it. It was so cool when i first saw it

Yup, by zapping the poor Ceratonoth first with the weak version of its lightning gun.

@emperortethysusdacertified8175 Nope, the clip I've seen from JP player, Rey Dau do zap female Ceratonoth when hunting, it's just that I forgot when in such instance Rey Dau does not carry the Ceratonoth corpse away but eat it on the place. So Rey Dau basically has two different hunting animations.

I love how the Talioth packs are bold enough to attack even Rey Dau upfront, and it's response to start sniping them XD

The both share the same flying wyvern skeleton, they're going to have a lot of animation overlap

Its the same skeleton, in fact the vast majority of flying Wyverns share a skeleton. Only exceptions are stuff like Ukanlos and Akantor.

MH Monsters are categorized by their "skeletons" which is basically a collection of base rigs that the devs use to make new mons without wasting too much time and effort. Rey Dau has a basic "flying wyvern" skeleton which in turn is shared among Rathalos, Rathian, Diablos, Legiana, etc. - which is why a lot of these monsters share same animations with one another

All the regular Flying Wyverns have the same skeleton. They all sit and walk the same way, just look at the Raths in Rise or World. The combat anims are generally unique, barring shared attacks like the ground charge that most of the lower tier ones have(Rathian, Legiana, Paolumu, Pukei, etc).
