Man I am so glad you're playing Kenshi. I bought this game like 6 months ago and I really want to love it, but I haven't been able to get into it because I've had so much difficulty figuring out what to do. Your style of play on these kinds of games is so similar to my own, that I always learn so goddamn much watching your LPs, and the way you storyboard it all just rocks my world. After the first three episodes I launched Kenshi again for the first time in months, and I'm finally starting to get the idea of what to do based on your little unintentional tips - and I just want to say thanks for that, Rycon.

There is actualy no real way to play kenshi. The best part of it is going blind, and dont save scum. If you die? Thats great you learned something for a next playthough. If you dont die? Welk sir u just gotten your self stronger

Hey Rycon, if you want to transfer items between your characters you can right-click and 'loot' to tell them to open both of their inventories. Then you can transfer by right-clicking on each item rather than drag-and-drop. Just a little tip. And one additional detail, once you rent a bed you'll have it allowed for your usage for a 24 hour period. So if you need only 6 hours for each character you can heal four characters. And if you overrun that 24 hour period they won't charge you again unless you send another character to 'sleep' on the bed.

Growing up in Rebirth as Park and Sand did, they would pretty much assume Might Makes Right, since that’s all they ever saw. And Hobbs is...well, he’s Hobbs lol. I can see all three of them being fiercely loyal to their own squad, but everyone else is fair game. And they have a pup! Your characters do love their animals. :)

Hey Rycon, quick quality of life tip: when you want to transfer items from one person to another, you can right click and hold on them and select "trade", it brings up both of their inventories so all you have to do is right click on the items to transfer. Anyways, loving the series!

Here's a tip about beds. If you click on them (without someone occupying it) then you can see its healing rate and/or rental fee. The camp bed and bed rolls are usually 4x healing. The normal beds are usually x8 healing rate. Great series, keep up the good work!

*BIG TIP* #3 Right-click a character while having another highlighted will give the option to trade... Trade will allow you to quickly transfer items rather than dragging and dropping each item, also holding shift will allow you to move entire stacks, as well as buy whole stacks

You where fighting in a dust storm the whole time at the end. That is why Sand was so slow at sneaking and could not do the KO, he was debuffed by the dust storm. While in the desert if you can get some resist gear it makes a huge difference when fighting during a sandstorm. Tagelmusts are common and give you 70% protection (parks is wearing one), you can find goggles at some stores which will give you 100% though.

(Spoilers perhaps) Getting a few crossbows, the cheap and easy to use ones called Toothpicks (there's an even worse type called Junkbows but you should have enough money for the better ones) would have really helped with that last fight, 2 crossbows firing (friendly fire will happen, just try and position yourself so it is less likely) and Park as a tank would have made short work of any lone, unarmored enemy since there is no defence but armor. They take up a primary weapon slot though so you'd have to ditch the staves or keep them in their backpacks. Also, those backpacks are pretty bad for you combat skills so you should make a habit of dropping them once combat starts :) Great episode though! Been really looking forward to it. Your LP and Nookrium's LP of the game is what has gotten me to buy it, so I'm still quite new to the game as well :P EDIT: Also, you couldn't sneak run because your speed was lowered somehow. Probably that chainmail, you can compensate by continuing to up your athletics and stuff. And hey, don't be too sad about the fight. That was some pretty good toughness and melee training :P

I know this comes a bit late, but heres some Lore about recent Shek History and how Esata became the Queen: Only the best Shek Warriors can earn Battle Names, Esata got hers (Stone Golem) as she joined the Five Invincibles, literally the mightiest Warriors of the Kingdom. The King at that Time was known as Shager. One day after a Battle where the Shek suffered heavy losses, the King planned a suicide Attack on the Holy Nation to avenge the fallen Warriors and restore the Honour of the Kingdom. But Bayan, at that time a Warrior, protestet against this plan. Shager was furious, he called Bayan a Coward and threatened him with all kinds of punishments. Esata stepped in and told Shager that Bayan was right and if he wanted to silence him, he would have to cut down Her first. In the following fight, Esata killed Shager and became the Leader in his place with Bayan as her personal advisor. She is the first of the Shek Leaders who wants to adress her kingdoms problem of a declining Population. While not particulary intelligent, she is open mindet to rational thought and as former Member of the Invincibles giftet with superior skills in Battle. Bayans Intellect on the other Hand can only be described as impressive. Esata relys on his advice for the good of the Nation. Her politics of balancing out prosperity and glory however divided the battle hungry citizens, but i guess everyone can see that her course is way more feasible in the long run. Oh, i almost forgot: she has a Daughter Named Seto.

i have a group of 20 shek with stats from 20-40 for the most advanced, and getting just close to the bugmaster is nigh impossible, as blood spiders are a plague and keep spawning . you have a very long road ahead

Yessss, Kenshi with Rycon! The best V-Day gift. Just wanted to give a tip or two: You can make item swapping less tedious by selecting one of your two characters and hold Right Click on the portrait over the squad member you want to swap items with to open the drop down menu and select trade. You can then hold shift and click on items and item stacks to trade things back and forth in bulk (if the items stack) or one at a time if you want to split a stack (such as food) by just clicking normally (no shift). This can even be done across squads as long as the participants are within trading range. You can also swap between characters without closing the trade window so swapping a lot of items to one person takes way less time. For Splinting - You saw this almost as soon as you mentioned it but you can splint damaged arms and legs once they pass a certain threshold but if they are severely damaged the temporary health of the limb may not show until it is closer to being healed. This amount changes based on First Aid skill. This can also be set as a permanent job just like other jobs and is actually pretty helpful to have on everyone eventually. Renting Beds - TL;DR Getting a character out of a rented bed doesn't always mean you have to pay to use it again. I don't know the time frame here but even if you have a character get up you can have them (or others) take their place on the rented bed without having to pay again. I want to say that you rent them for 24hrs safely and can use them within that time period for multiple characters but this is something you should test before hand because the time frame may be less. I am just going off my personal experience and observations. Keep up the great videos, Rycon!

Not sure if anyone else commented this, but when your limbs are gravely injured and you splint it it may not be visible on the health bar. I believe if the total health of the limb + health added by the splint is below 0, it won't appear but it did work. When you noticed it your leg health was at -2, so the bar was displaying 15 (17-2).

After rewatching this I think I kind of understand that Shek's comment about "girls without enemies". It sounds very bizarre I know but I think you have to understand it from their perspective as a warrior culture. The Shek (most likely a female who said it too) is saying if a woman doesn't have enemies then she is most likely someone who bends her knee to everyone as to not offend them and keep herself safe.

Yea it doesn't matter how much of a strong figure is made. If you have a high enough stealth an assassination (which both are relatively easy to level up) there's no castle or man that can stop you from sneaking in an kidnapping any king, queen, Or skeleton overlord right off their throne in broad daylight haha. you were right too assume that as the probable route with the phoenix.. its pretty much how I did it. A skeleton assassin at that :P Stealth is really OP in this game.

I noticed that the berserker hit all three of them at once in that fight, I've never properly played kenshi but I heard that if they have a large weapon it's better to go for 1 on 1 fights rather than ganging up on people because they might get a critical when they otherwise wouldnt have

Pretty good episode, just wanted to address some things said and encountered, give some tips to new players. Feel free to ignore if you want to figure it out on your own, or if you can't be bothered to read an essay's worth of words. Wall of text below. Typically characters with two or three times your stats is not something you want to fight, you will be less likely to block their attacks and it is very unlikely you will ever hit them unless you catch them mid-swing from behind, especially in a situation like we saw at end of video where the difference is 20 or more. Generally speaking, if your attack is higher than enemy defense, you should be able to beat them. If you outnumber your opponent, avoid ganging up on targets like Beak-things or Berserkers as they typically have large area attacks. If you are outnumbered, try using block on a few characters to stall for time and train defense while the 1v1 fights finish. Characters with good toughness, defense and/or heavy armour should try using the taunt toggle to reduce the number of unfair fights you have to win. Splinting limbs can allow you to use them at a better rate than you normally would while injured. This includes run speed when a leg is bad and being able to still use a weapon while your arm is injured. If you have a leg or arm in negative and a splint kit in you inventory, splint injuries should show up as an option. If you want to splint a leg or arm, you need to right click and hold for a moment to bring up the context menu on your target or set it as an automated job. Splint injuries is a separate action to first aid and requires a different kit as a result. If you shift click the medic button it should set jobs for all three types of medication: first aid, splint injuries, and robotics. You can see a lighter coloured bar layered on top of the limb's HP bar when it is splinted, showing the percent of the HP that is being made available for use temporarily while the splint lasts. Using first aid on yourself is less effective than using it on others. I strongly suggest using the group run toggle as Rycon shows around the 30 minute mark, or picking up injured members to avoid people with bad legs getting left behind. It is much slower but traveling at the speed of the slowest member is safest, unless you are in dire need of something like food or first aid to save someone. The heavy weapons picked up around the 15 minute mark have an attack malus because they are rusted junk, not because they are heavy. Standard or higher grade weapons typically have neutral or positive attack modifiers, which you can see in the heavy weapon shop around the 36 minute mark. Different weapon types do have tradeoffs, Katanas and Hackers are usually offensive, Sabers and Polearms are mostly defensive, Heavy weapons do alot of damage but are generally neutral in terms of accuracy, they tend to have wider area attacks. There is also crossbows and martial arts to consider, but they have tradeoffs that are more based in how you use them and what armor you have than raw stat modifiers. Most of the weapons we have seen in Rycon's playthrough fall into the "hot garbage" category, which is understandable because he is just starting out with escaped slaves and minimal theft. Best bets for good gear early on are by taking them off dust bandit bosses beaten in combat, stealing or purchasing standard or high grades from shops. Ruins are typically of two types: abandoned outposts from major factions like Shek with low grade loot as we saw in this episode, and the ancient buildings that typically have rare components and blueprints that are almost always highly dangerous. Ruins around Shek Kingdom, as well as the conflict areas in the north-center of map between Holy Nation and United Cities territory are typically of the first type. Most other areas have the second type, especially in the south-east portion of the map. There are exceptions as each ruin is different, but you can guess by the name and color of the icon on your map if they are safe to loot or not. Ruins are typically okay, while Ancient Labs and Towers are typically dangerous. If you get closer to a ruin and it turns red on your map, you can expect bad guys. Be safe and save your game before entering as some them are capable of ending your game if you are not prepared.
