First time I had prayer day my main group was out and my guards were recovering from a bandit raid that caught me off guard. I lost 2 workers a guard and a dog that day. "Prayer day is the best day!"

The outpost and the house are considered two separate towns, as a result, they need to have their own food store. You could also place food in their inventory at the start of the day so they work longer. Kinda like giving them a little lunch box or something. In regard to your iron plate problem, Hobbs constructs an iron plate and once he does that the hierarchy of jobs then defaults to the next option which is hauling to iron plates. So when they are doing a job you want them to complete, make those jobs the only job they can do.

Rycon! Lovely to see the story and the crew grow. With the new game I started, I think I'm going to do what you did and also quite early start a very basic outpost for iron and stuff. Since my last 100+ hours game I could already effortlessly thrash most raids, it was too little "risk" for me to find it fun to defend that outpost. :P I'd like to give you some tips though, some things that aren't quite as obvious and some that I haven't seen mentioned (as of yet) and which I've seen other LP:ers miss. 1. Will start by saing that yeah, the nav mesh thing others have mentioned will *probably* solve that food barrel issue but it is also probably too far away/part of Squin and not the Outpost. 2. Those Paladins' weapons are worth quite a bit, hard to transport though since you need a medium backpack to keep them in or you have to carry it in your hands. Other loot to look out for is their chain shirts, that's one of the best shirts for anyone not using a crossbow and they sell for good money. You can also use their armor, just be careful to not use the whole set because if you do then the Shek will think you're HN and attack you... Cuz those chest plates can be pretty good. Not the best coverage, but who needs those fleshy, weak, arms and legs anyway? :D 3. Pretty much all types of shirt armor, most weapons and some other armor, in that order, sell for the most money. Grade does a lot for the price, but certain types of items are more "efficient" inventory space-wise (weight doesn't matter too much cuz it's free strength training and if it's life or death you can always drop it) like those heart protectors or leather shirts Dust Bandits usually have. Make a habit of when looting (except for say, Hungry Bandits) to look for standard grade stuff and take those space efficient stuff. I basically get my fighters standard grade Spiked Helmets from Dust Bandits real easy and I only have to spend money on upgrading armor when I'm upgrading that. Found a specialist grade Spiked Helmet of some kind of fancy Paladin the other day, that my Shek fighter kept as a trophy of his battle :p 4. Please don't spend money on the 1-skill in everything recruits because you can find those anywhere (might be worth it to find Scorchlanders though since they got bonus XP for both armorsmithing and weaponsmithing), you can find Kang, Rane the Giant and most especially, Ruka, all around the Shek Kingdom who are ALL decent fighters, for your level and Ruka is even free. Kang and Rane cost... Uh, 6000 and 7500 cats respectively, and those two can pretty much beat Dust Bandits from the get-go :D 5. Lastly, don't be afraid to edit more! If you think it might be boring for us to watch you loot etc. (God knows I can take a lot of time micromanaging my loot after a big battle and sorting it on the pack bulls), cut it out of the upload. I mean, if you can take the time to edit it that is. I'm fine with the way things are, but it might make the videos a bit more snappy :) And, uh, I'd frigging love more uploads of this, like, twice weekly, please? :D

Hey Rycon just so ya know, theres a waystation a short distance to the southwest of squin that has a bar and construction store, you can usually pick up 30 or so iron plates and building materials each there. They stock way more of both than squin does! You should find Ruka in the bars in squin as well, shes a decent fighter, free, and is a unique recruit like hobbs. Loving the series! Are you going to start uploading it twice a week soon? I know you mentioned around episode 3 or 4 you wanted to start doing that!

It was in an earlier episode that Rycon visited Admag. I saw Ruka in the bar there, and he missed her. Ruka's spawn can be anywhere in the Shek Kingdom, not just in Squin. Also noticed that Kang did not appear to be present in either of the Squin bars in this video... Was slightly annoyed at first that he picked up the first two Shek he encountered when Kang would be a much better investment... But he's nowhere to be found, so it's alright I guess!

You have put in motion quite an interesting chain of events. The Holy Nation will start sending constant, very strong raids. I'm not sure if the shek guards will be able to handle them, most likely the group you've seen fighting was only the original, prayer day group. In regards to the production chain, I think you over complicated a bit. I usually did not have any problems leaving the workers unattended for long stretches of time, just mine>storage while others operated the production. The problem is probably due to distance and counting as 2 different areas. To be honest I don't think you needed to setup your mining outpost. You could fined large enough quantities of iron plate/building materials in the waystation (south west of Squin or north of Hub). I also had a base in Squin and I could finance the buying just from mining copper and selling dust bandit swords and heart protectors.

You've probably figured all this out already but at 1:09:12 the Paladins that you fought with the Squin City Guards were the remnants of Prayer Day, they tried to path right next to Squin and were attacked by the guards at 33:35 you can tell because one of them was missing a leg 1:08:08

This is old, so you probably know by now, but for anyone else who doesn't know: Building really close to a town breaks pretty much everything. I put a little farm outside the hub, and all my automation went bonkers. Saw a post on reddit about it, disassembled everything that was marked as "Your Outpost" on the map, and everything started working again. Ended up installing a mod that lets the iron plates building be constructed inside. Kind of a PITA but not nearly as much as having zero automation.

Animals are hard coded to not to enter buildings above certain size, once adult or elder they wont enter the building, unless you pick them up and carry them inside, as far as i know there are no mods that allow animals to interact with things or enter buildings. They will also eat from the backpack if they are close enough to the character with food, but you can also feed them manually by dropping the food on the floor, near the animal.

Animals will not get feed from a food barral they will eat from backpacks, if you throw it on the ground near them, or from animal troughs. Dogs will also eat severed limbs

I had the same bug happen, people were starving even tho there were loads of food, importing the save worked for me. You could try importing too, just make sure to leave everything ticked except "reset squad position"

I have a couple mod suggestions for you rycon, interior industry so you can place things like the stone processor and iron refinery indoors. Unlike other mods its actually balanced since it just allows you to build it indoors too instead of outdoors only and doesn't shrink it or increase its work speed so you'll still need a big house to fit it in but you can place it indoors inside a house in a town like squin. Other mods that minify them make a tiny version thats they always feel the need to boost the speed of for some reason. You should also add 3x attack slots, that way group combat is far better and outnumbering someone actually means something(or being outnumbered) since you can only attack one at a time in kenshi numbers dont really matter, 2 people can defeat 20 if they're skilled enough due to people politley lining up to fight you one at a time(something i find absolutely ridiculous) i recommend you try it. Theres also 5x attack slots but that could be a bit much, i use 3x and its far better than vanilla.

young dogs will enter buildings because they're small enough to do so, you can work around this for bigger animals by having someone pick them up and put them down inside the building to keep and animal safe inside a building.

I've noticed with the "Bodyguard" job on they will follow a squad mate inside, but they will occasionally get stuck and need to be picked up to get them back outside. I don't think they're supposed to, but if a character is walking into a building as the zone loads their animal companion will wander inside before whatever code that denies door usage loads.

There are actually mods that let you make indoor refineries and such- but they're usually research-gated behind the third tier of refining or so. Kind of annoying. Honestly would suggest researching walls and just making a small outpost out there with everything inside. In the worst case, you run for Squin if a bad raid comes. I'm not sure if you really lose anything at all even if your base is ransacked. The modding scene for Kenshi is surprisingly huge though, so you might want to take a peek and see if there's any QoL stuff you want. Having fun watching the series so far. You're clearly pretty passionate and interested in the lore of the world, too. Good luck taking the fight to the Holy Nation. Oh, and when you've found someone you want to make into an armorsmith, tanning stations also increase armorsmithing. Get those gains while increasing your stock. Also, sometimes when things involving pathing or jobs break, saving and reloading usually fixes it. My engineers get lazy all the time and I need to do that to get them working again. Forces people to remember where barrels are, too.

He suffers from both Blind Gaming KZbinr Syndrome & Dumb Gaming KZbinr Syndrome (BGYS & DGYS) He very often messes something right in his face like 2 episodes ago when he didn't pick up a piece of Raw Meat he made Hobbs drop to fight someone but saw everything else around the Raw piece of meat And Also in this Episode he made Sand drop his bag to approach The Holy Nation but immediately forgot to pick it back up even zooming in at Sand's back and not noticing he didnt have a bag on. He only noticed when he tried to put something in his bag and finding him to not have one. Those are common Syndromes Most Gaming KZbinrs seem to suffer with from time to time. Making things so very aggravating for the viewers unknowingly. Missing things that are clearly visable and Making dumb decisions often that is easily avoidable.
