A good survival game will kill you while you're figuring out the controls, in my opinion. Brutal but rewarding gameplay. Ark will throw raptors at you right as you tame your first Dodo. Rust will remind you that you are not the protagonist, repeatadly. Minecraft seperates the boys from the other boys, Letting you survive long enough to get comfortable, only to take it all away. 7DaysToDie starts as easy as an apocalypse game can, plentiful supplies, easy mode enemies, but as supplies run out... so does your time. And ProjectZomboid disclaims right from the get go that you will die. It's just a matter of how and when.
@SinfullyHera2 жыл бұрын
Rust is piss easy, the only hardship is other players which the dev can’t control in terms of their skill etc Minecraft is extremely easy 7 days to die is as hard as you decide to make it and is more in the line of endless mode where each day gets harder progressively as you survive and level up. Ark is a bit challenging sure but the hardest part about it is the frame rate Project Zomboid hates you and isn’t afraid to kill you…really it’s the only one you mentioned that is actually brutal

Some of the assets look really familiar 🤔😅 it does look good though, and fun to play. Although I have to agree with the UI, that is a bit shit, but working on something somewhat similar myself right now, I assume it's a case of "make it functional now, make it look good later". That the game works this well... I'd say we have to thank the availability of engines like Unreal Engine & Unity for that. The list of fixes in the recent update looks very familiar to me, but all things considered, it's amazing how robust these platforms are. Seems pretty straightforward at this stage, probably a good deal too "clean" for my taste.

I guess, I will keep this one in mind. For some reason, I have discovered survival/crafting games in my senior gamer days and I am always looking for interesting games which scratch that itch. Just yesterday I've bought 'The Infected' (and I'm under the suspicion I will be hopelessly overchallenged with it) and this one, well, looks not that bad as well. Looking a lot like Rust is not a bad thing in my book, recently I am binging a lot of Willjum videos, where he plays Rust solo, and I can't help to think that I would love a game like Rust without the MP element.

@@gregsouvorin5487 Sorry, somehow your comment went under the radar, I am a bit late with my answer. And green hell is amazing, although I have to admit, I am quite a bit overchallenged with this as well atm. I mean, getting a fire started alone is like a mini game in itself, then the checking for bruises and leeches etc. _and_ having to keep an eye on your nutrition levels... well, it can be can be challenging. Fortunately, the game allows you to take it slow, at least to a point. That nutrition thing drove me insane at first, but I am slooowly getting the hang of it.

@@brianmi40 This game pops up quite a lot, but for some reason, it still went under my radar. Right now it's on sale on Steam and only costs 5.50 €, but what discourages me a bit is that this game is still early access after what, _9 years_ and a lot of reviews talk about core mechanisms having changed drastically, bad performance and the devs leaving the impression that they not really have an idea where to go with this game. Oh well, I think for five and a half bucks, I will still give it a try. One question though, I _love_ exploration, so maybe could you say something about this aspect of the game? Is it just collecting stuff and crafting and fight hordes of zombies and a 'make your own story/adventure' kind of game or is there something to explore or maybe even something like a story to follow? Anyway, thanks a lot for the tip!
@brianmi402 жыл бұрын
@@Furzkampfbomber so we shouldn't think much of '"core systems" changing in an early release, right? I've played it from very early on and have no issues w the changes over the years which have netted out to be vast improvements. For years running it on an AMD Phenom X4 and a GeForce 750ti it never crashed and I never experienced issues. Still don't now on an i5 w a gtx1650 and just a few months ago an RTX 2060. But doing PC support as a career, I'm well aware you hear about the problems, not the masses doing just fine. I expect you will enjoy it and yes there is much exploring to do, so much you'll need at least the minibike to even make much of a dent through the various biomes following roads and dirt trails. My only wish is for a bed mechanic to sleep. Later after several upgrades you can decently stand your ground at night, but early on I often just exit, drop to a 10 min day cycle then switch back at daybreak. The progression system is deep, wide, and brilliant to me, offering a wide array of approaches you can take in replays on new random maps. After you get good you can the progression up faster to reduce grind. At 65, I've pc gamed in college on text only terminals before any FPS games were out, and 7 Days ranks as my all time fav and regularly return to it which my new Meta Quest 2 isn't overly happy about. The aid of a turret should be noted by other games since it empowers you to not fight alone in places where the help is needed, something missing from another great game, Empyrion which gives you a mini universe to explore ala No Man's Sky, but w real open ended resources and crafting. Anyway, enjoy it!
