I always saw the "we got people on the way. We want you home in one piece now. We get bodies every day...etc" as the bisbops. Warning the people trying to escape that they will come for them, and they will be just another body for them, while the little voice in the back saying "run away run away"/"runaway runaway" is that little voice in the back of the head telling you to get away. To escape. But it's so small and quiet because it's overshadowed by dema and the depression/anxiety/other mental illness.

I always saw this song as Clancy slowly managing to slip hidden messages into the propaganda. On the surface, he's telling other escapees to come back into DEMA's caring hands, but then he mumbles "run away, run away" at the bottom of that, like a warning that they will in fact not be getting a warm welcome if they return

The "we come for you" part is the bishops chanting that you have no chances of escaping dema. I think the most common theory of the "we want you home in one piece" part is that it is also some sort of propaganda by the bishobs. However I've always felt like this song is a battle between Tyler and the bishops. The soft chorus just feels like it's a reminder from the banditos that we get bodies everyday and we don't want you to be one of them

The reason there was such backlash is because trench hit so hard. Me personally I'm not in the anti SAI club and I've be3n a fan since before they got signed. I think they just gained such a massive following from BF and Trench that when SAI came it was a whole different style and a lot of people don't like change and they thought they went soft. When in all actuality Tyler and Josh have always made music that is such different t genres from song to song. Even going back to RAB. Which is a personal favorite for me
@sostmateus2 ай бұрын
I think the MTV unplugged is a must too. You guys already know the songs, it is a masterpiece of a creation.
@Simplechaos9432 ай бұрын
So the concept of this album story wise is that Nico and the bishops have essentially captured Tyler to make music digestible for the masses to hear that Nico is trustworthy and should be listened to. Essentially this song is used as the backbone of the album where Nico is finally letting loose. Comparing himself to a flamethrower while you're just a switchblade, being a notorious fighter in the octagon, and other things implying you can't win against him, so give in and have the "people" (bishops probably lore wise?) take you. An absolute masterpiece of art and i can't get enough of this band. That being said, try self titled. Its just raw emotional art and is fantastic.
@thechigirl24982 ай бұрын
I'm glad somebody explained this! I also don't understand the hate this album got. Like of course it doesn't sound like usual top because it's not SUPPOSED to. It's a propaganda album. But also...leave it to twenty one pilots to do a whole propaganda album for the sake of lore lol. Love them for this. This is still a solid album sonically though, lore aside.

From the lore perspective, the Bishops want escapees home in one piece so they can get them to become Glorious Gone and use their bodies to seize (control with the horns). If you run the Bishops are coming for you. They want you to come back to Dema and destroy yourself for their purposes. From a music perspective, it’s a straight banger. 😅

Yes, this one on SAI shook everyone back into it. The whole SAI album is masterfully done, imo, because it tells such an important part of the mental health story. TOP is always phenomenal so any album you pick next will be great. Trench stays more in the Dema lore, but you'll be able to pick up on some early 'prequel' themes in Self-titled and Vessel. Both spectacular! Here for it all!! 💙|-/🩷

The switch up is basically a dialogue between three people. The “deeper” voiced part where it sounds like an army are the biceps, the other parts where he sings we’ve got people on the way are the Banditos . I believe every other part is Tyler talking about himself. You could say there’s a fourth part and that’s the two sides talking to you honestly
