There is a history behind this Sigiriya rock which you can google and learn about ancient history behind it. I think the guide doesn't have much knowledge about it or lack of explanation. The Wood apple has to be eaten with sugar or jaggery or you can make juice and mix it with Ice cream. It's delicious. Enjoy the rest of your tour with safe riding 👍

SL is not expensive if you choose your options wisely😊 This tour guide is not giving you the fullest experience. You should've rest that day in the hotel and go to see the sunrise in the Pidurangala rock. Thats magical❤
@devinranaweera8667 ай бұрын
It's sad how you had a tour guide who either doesn't know jack-shit or doesn't have a good command of English to explain how important and special Lion Rock is. Lion Rock is basically an ancient rock fortress, royal palace and later Buddhist monastery. Each element of the fortress complex has deep meaning and history. Either way, hope you had an absolutely amazing time in Sri Lanka, and can't wait to have you back! 😍🤠

Agree, the guide only talks about the view point. The water gardens, fountains, frescos are skipped and he is just too ignorant to say the least that they are standing on top of a great ancient palace built by hand in the 5th century.

Hi Ryleigh, I am from Melbourne; I have been living in Melbourne for 32 years. I visit Sri Lanka every year as I love this culture-rich wonderful country. I have lived in Sri Lanka for 29 years. Sri Lanka's history goes more than 20,000 years. Sigiri Rock palace (Lion Rock Palace) is supposed to have been initially constructed more than 6000 years ago. It had been a very technologically advanced nation then. The Siv-Hela king constructed the palace with water fountains on the top of the palace and the water was taken hundreds of meters below the rock top. How did they do that!? Imagine the technology they have had in Sri Lanka (then the country was called "Sinhale or Sihele"). After the dynasty of King Rawana, the palace was abandoned for a period of a few thousand years and then King Kashyapa rebuilt the rock palace abour 1500 years ago. This is a living monument to prove the level of advanced science and technology the country of Sihale (Ceylon as the British invaders called it and Sri Lanka as it has been called for the last 5 decades) had 6000 years ago. Unfortunately, most of this technology was destroyed and looted by the European invaders who brutalized this country since year 1505. First the country was invaded by Portuguese. Then came the Dutch invaders. Finally came the worst and most uncivilized and brutal invaders, the British. They killed millions of Siv-Hela people of this country of Sihele. After a 30-year war against the world's most brutal terrorist group called LTTE, the people defeated them in 2009. The brutaluty and the muderous nature of these terrorists were inexplicable. The LTTE terrorists killed more than 100,000 innocent civilians including sucking infants on the lap of mothers, helpless elderly and Buddhist Monks who are going about their daily routines helping the lay people. They destryed the Goberment property that cannot be replaced even with 500 billion US dollars. Still some Western elements who invaded the country 500 years ago still keep troubling this great country and still support the terrorist groups like the defeated LTTE terror group. The country who had been affected by a 30-year terrorist war got further affected by 3 years of CoViD pandemic. The country's main income sources are tourism, agricultural exports and foreign employment. All three income sources came to a grinding halt during the 3 CoViD years. The country started recovering slowly; but then the foreign and the local enemies used the financial state of the country to create havoc and topple a democratically elected government. However, Siv-Hela people have had a steel determination that couldn't break even 500-year brutal invation, 30-year terrorism or western religions, which always sought the support of terrorists to destroy the cultural bond of the country, which is based on Buddhist teachings of compassion, kindness and friendliness.

Wood Apple is great, but you didn't get to enjoy a wood apple juice or anything. Bruh if you are seeing this give them the real feeling. Even a 5 years old baby can walk them here and there. Sri lanka is full of surprises because of its nature, culture, people and history. A tour guide should be able to at least give them a hint. Good luck anyway❤ Enjoy🎉

All this is packed in to a small island that can be coverd in a few days. Sigiriya has tge most expensive tickets in SL. if you dont make it expensive, there will be a huge traffic on the ladders to climb the rock. Its already crowded.
@dname18027 ай бұрын
OMG, guide seems nice, BUT😂, he didn’t explain anything. 1. Sigiriya is a rock fortress, believe to be built by SriLankan (Sinhalaya, those days) King Kashyapa, over 1500 years ago. 2. You said Lillie’s and Crocodiles in water right. That’s the moat around the Fortress for protection. 3. There are so many intact structures around the rock and ruins of the palace on top. 3. There are ancient paintings of ladies which is important to see. I don’t know you saw that. 4. Most Sri Lankans know these things and your guide (as a guide) definitely must know. You don’t need a separate guide for that.

When traveling outside of the Western Province or Colombo, it's smarter to eat at local restaurants instead of pricey tourist spots. I've noticed that meals in these tourist places cost around $8.33 (about 2400 rupees) per person. However, if you opt for a good local eatery, you can enjoy a similar meal for around 2400 to 3000 rupees for all three of you. Furthermore, the farther you go from Colombo, the more expensive these tourist places become. By the way, your vlog is adorable.😊

The recorded history of Sigiriya dates back to 3rd century BC, a time when Buddhist monks once lived there . your guide did not narrate the history behind Sigiriya which he should have done. the ponds you seen on your way up were where the damsels used to bath and were inter connected which is why the water levels remained the same. the irrigation system that was used to send water up to the Palace atop of the rock was made possible by what we call Caliper Physics. the rock that you may have seen from Sigiriya is called Piduragalle. visit the Dambulla Rock but watch out for the monkeys
