Mainstream audience can't handle sophisticated music. She also uses metaphoric lyrics. Take Brian Fallon for example, whether he is solo, with The Gaslight Anthem, The Horrible Crowes, Molly and The Zombies his lyrics just rip out my soul and resemble it into something better. Not to mention I could listen to just the instrumental and still feel the same. He sure can make a guitar sing! The Gaslight Anthem just released a new album after 10 years (they broke up) and it's amazing. But he's not mainstream, most of his lyrics are metaphorical and you can listen to a song a dozen times and feel one way, then come back to it a week or 2 later and feel completely different with it.
