2 Years ago, I bought the Ryobi 40 volt multistage battery powered snow blower. Did a video that generated a lot of questions. Heading in to the 3rd season of use, I answer the top 5 questions from comment section of that video.

I am tempted to get one of the Ryobi blowers. Picked up a snow joe for a song but I've got tons of Ryobi 40v stuff and would like to have the spare batteries rather than being limited to the one snow joe battery.

I purchased the Ryobi 24” snowblower in December of 2023. Love it. Does my whole driveway and most of my neighbors driveway (neighbors is huge). During the video you talk about batteries. I have 2 extra batteries from my Ryobi lawn mower. 2 more 6hm batteries. They are my spares and I can finish my neighbors driveway and still have battery life. All while charging the other batteries. Great vid thanks.

I’m in Colorado and when the plow comes through… and creates a HUGE berm in front of your driveway… I had to help my neighbor who owns a Ryobi snowblower…. Because couldn’t handle that berm. So he did his driveway and my Ariens gas snowblower did the berm. Oh, and I also helped out 4 other neighbors too

It's all about the right tool for the right job. We get maybe 3 feet of snow all year, so it works great here. I tend to think you see a little more snow than that in Colorado. So I can see how maybe this isn't the blower for that kind of winter.

Damn it, now I have to have one of those. I live in SW Missouri about 50 miles from what is considered the center of the U.S. We get moist air from the Gulf and cold air coming down from Canada and it all meets right where I live so wo either get a lot of ice which can last for several days or a ton of snow which lasts a couple of days and melts away pretty fast. I have an older trac drive 32" craftsman which has never failed me, I mean it is as tough as a mule and it does have the plug in electric start, it has never failed me and really fairly easy to start, never any problems but being 70 years young, I am slowly converting everything to electric. I have the electric self-propelled mower which I love. When my Ryobi weed eater craps out, I'll go with the electric. I do have a couple of electric tools from Bauer (H.F.) a sawzall and a 20" hedge trimmer which I really like so maybe the snowblower is in my hopefully not too distant future. It's funny you mention something about the battery fires as I recently seen an advertisement for a charger that accepts Bauer batteries and I was thinking that same thing about how safe they really are. As far as my battery goes, I have never timed it but I have .74 acres minus 2 out buildings and the house equals around 3,400 s.f. and the rest I mow. I never ran the mower till it craps out, I usually cut the front, charge the battery then cut the back. While it's charging, I do exactly what you said, I weed eat with my Ryobi gas weedeater. So I have a lot of fence line to do which is a good hour and an abundance of Red Cedar, White Oak and Hickory trees. By that time, the battery is good to go for the rest of the yard. BUT, here is my goal and I am certain it is yours as well, .... (drum roll please) .... They big Kahuna, yep, the Ryobi Zero Turn!!!!!! HELL YES!!!! At least I like to dream big. When you was talking about how many watts the battery draws when charging, I found out myself when out of curiosity, I plug it into my Jackery. LOL It was charging at something like 180 WATTS!! I thought to myself "that can't be right" so I'm glad that you verified it and that I wasn't crazy. Speaking of portable power stations, that is something else I discovered recently was these batteries have power inverters for them. I know they aren't much power but would be good to keep in a go bag or camping or what ever. Bauer has them also for their batteries. The Bauer was around 39 bucks and the Ryobi 100. I really like your videos because unlike this comment, they are short and to the point. What you was saying about the price point and it may not be cheaper to go electric in the long run is probably true in most cases, but another factor to consider is what is easier for a person to use as they get older. My last gas mower crapped out on me after about 5 years due to bad gas. I changed the carb, etc and it ran fine for 2 days, on the 3rdday it ran fine for about half an hour, back fired then wouldn't start. I was done with it and bought the Ryobi mower. It will last me as long as I need it to I'm sure, it will probably outlive me. Plus!! I have saved money on a cremation coffin as the box the mower came in should be big enough if I am folded up correctly to fit in it for the Eazy Bake Oven.

Four years using the small Ryobi manual push thrower (WI)… except for the heaviest or tallest snow, I grab it every time in lieu of the 9.5 hp Ariens. Exhaust stinks, you are breathing it in… love the battery unit. Thanks. Your video tipped me over to purchase it. Thank you.

I ordered mine after watching your first review and the first one I order came in bent out of shape then I returned it. The second one I order got a tree branch stuck in it and it stop working, so I returned it. I’ve had zero luck so far with this 2 stage snowblower.

Wheel weights, even if you have to use some dumbell weights that'd give you 20-40lbs right on the wheels. You'd want to do this after the warranty expires since you'll want to add some sort of threaded rod to the wheel hub to secure the weight. just an idea. Or you could Red Green it and use the handyman's secret weapon to attach them, btw Gorrilla Tape will come closest to matching the tire color :)

I've read as well where some people are filling the tires with sand as well to add some extra weight on the rear end.

I almost bought one at end of season, but the HD guy wouldn't budge on the price. The local Ariens dealer did though, so now I have one of those, and I expect to get 20 to 40 years out of it so I'm happy. Don't forget to grease and auger shaft and drive axle though, still need to do those on electric blower.

One of the problems with roybi only being available at a big box store. Store can't move on price even to clear out end of the year stock.. One more reason dealing with a locally owned dealer, not only helps the local economy more, but you get better customer support with your purchase. Sadly I'm not in am area with that option, so I got stuck with the box store.. Thanks for watching 👀👍

@@AdventuresonTour Yeah it was the floor model with ripped handle foam too. Oh well joke's on them because I had just moved and would've bought into Ryobi 40v everything. Definitely about the service, the Ariens was dropped off at end of my driveway ready to go, if I had bought at HD I'd be trying to tetris it into my car.

One thing I’ve noticed about Ryobi batteries is they have no venting. When they warm up they take forever to cool down before you can charge them. Like 40 minutes! Happens all the time with my little 18” blower.
@AdventuresonTour
@AdventuresonTour 11 ай бұрын
Yes, I've seen the same with some of the 18v batteries on heavy draw items like the angle grinder. Haven't had any issues with the 40s. Might just be a thing with the 18s being pushed just a little too far.

No on board charger? That's a deal breaker for me.
@AdventuresonTour
@AdventuresonTour 16 күн бұрын
There is no need for an onboard charger. Batteries are hot swappable and are the standard Roybi 40v battery. So it's good for 80+ other tools. Wouldn't make sense to have to plug your snowblower in the summer to charge batteries for your pressure washer or lawnmower.
