Ryobi Boom Clamp Fix - Repaired and Modified.

I was in the middle of my yard work for the day when the boom clamp failed on me. I figured I would make a quick video of a repair attempt. It worked.
Since this is the 2nd one that has failed on me in the last year I will probably just leave this repair job as my new permanent clamp.

So glad I found this video. I had the same exact thing happen on my Ryobi expand-it power shaft. I called Ryobi and they said I needed to replace the entire upper boom assembly. I ordered the part, have removed all the screws that look pertinent to getting the old shaft out, but I can't get the darn thing open. Now I'm thinking I will mimic your remedy and just replace the 1/4-20 bolt inside the t-nut thing. Seems like it will be much easier and faster! Thanks!!

Ha. That's great. Ya. Mine has been holding up this way really well. Better than the first two failed boom clamps.

Thanks for the video. I purchased as replacement clamp a couple years ago after the first one stripped and now this one is stripped too and the part is unavailable online.

Ya. It is a cheap part (as are most things these days) so it breaks easily just from regular use. I've swapped the bolt a couple times now i think.
