You can. Are you going to drill multiple holes and then use a chisel to cut it out? The challenge is going to be getting it all the same depth. I guess I am not sure what you are thinking of doing.

I appreciate the feedback on that. Standard hinge positioning is 5 inches from the top of the door to the top of the hinge and 10 inch's from the bottom of the bottom hinge to the bottom of the door. If you are replacing a door I do not recommend going of those placements though. I recommend measuring off the old door. As unfortunately hinge locations can vary. Ya. You will just have to gage the depth manually. The router sits on the jig and you cut out the hinge to make sure you keep a consistent depth.

So watch 2:08 on. The depth is set by putting the bit in the router then setting the router on top of hinge kit over the 2 depth gauges. You will want to measure the thickness of your hinge to figure out which one to use. I use the Guage to set the bit at 3:31 in the video
