I would recommend this for the average home owner, but not a professional user. It's ok at best.

The technique that may help others is fully bring the powerhead to full speed. After it reaches full speed (a few seconds) apply it to the limb, makes a major cutting difference. Using a normal chainsaw putting too much pressure on it will stop a chain, same applies with any pole saw.

Very informative, excellent review - not commercial. Just got one myself, definitely NOT PRO GRADE, but handy so far. Understanding it's for casual use and lowering expectations allows for satisfactory performance. I got it b/c I'm clearing land with mostly mesquite, holly, and various other small sapling sized trees ALL with hateful thorny spikes... too much for brush cutter, but not quite enough for a good chainsaw! I got tires of getting poked while using clippers and effort to cut 1-2" branches. I figured this is perfect, as I can use other attachments around the house - trimmer, edger, etc. Problems encountered: * finding the chain tension sweetspot- too much or too little on the chain - won't turn or gets thrown/ slips * Auto-Oiler mechanism - some have problems with it feeding - mine is the opposite - it'll sling a wet spot on a surface - bar/ chain get REALLY sloppy-wet. It'll go thru a reservoir of oil in 1-2 usages of apx 1hr ea. I've used chainsaws b4 and never had this much of an issue with oil.

I bought one today(pole saw attachment) your right it’s weak so you have to gun it before you start the gun but it got the job done took me two tanks of gas and I had lots of work to get done. It’s not a beast but can you imagine getting on a ladder with a Stihl 038 lol. Good product for the average joe.

All too common spelling/grammar error, "...your right it’s weak...", should be you are or you're. Recall that which follows your belongs to the person you are conversing with. Truly, I hope that helps you and others.

Review was right on . you need to rev it a few before you put it into a branch but it will do the job . I got mine as a cheaper alternative to the Echo 225 ( 400.00) and it gets the job done on my 2 oak trees

Yea i figured out the stalling issue with the chain. Let the engine warm up and dont have the chain too tight. Keep oil in the tank aswell. I cut a 12 inch thick tree down with mine. Had to go at it from both sides but i cut that sucker down. 31cc touch start power head btw. From 2010 and its still going strong

Good stuff! I'll look into the chain tightening issue. I plan to move onto a commercial grade unit soon though. Thanks for watching!

Live this unit but we’ve used Ryobi’s 40v power head which offers 💯 % of torque from the get go plus no maintenance on the power head except making sure the batteries are charged of course.

If you rotate the cutter head 180 degrees so the chain rotates counter clockwise it operates like a conventional chain saw and cuts really well. The Ryobi logo will be right side up. No, it is not a professional quality pole saw, but works great for occasional homeowner use.

Check chain tension. Might be the reason for difficulty of getting it to spin.

I use the Ryobi battery powerhead and have noticed a similar issue. It takes a few moments for even the string-trimmer to get 'up to speed'. This may be a common thing with Ryobi. I like my trimmer, but have to wait a couple of seconds to get the head up to speed to do what I need to do.

I have a Ryobi pole saw attachment I use on my attachment capable, corded electric trimmer. It didn't have the problem yours showed. It cuts smoothly? Was your chain to tight per chance?

Would it be better to make a bottom cut on the limb, that way it would fall off and not peal the bark. Have you tuned your power head for trimming limbs ?
@GettinJunkDone

I will try the bottom cut idea in the future. I haven't tuned the power head yet, hoping to do that soon!

I played with the gas ryobi power head for the last two years this weak I saw their 170$ electric 40v power head/ weed wacker for 90$ as it was a returned item and after using it I'm never using my gas one again It way more consistent in power and honestly feels stronger only thing is the plastic wing nut on the handle had to be swaped with a metal one not sure if it had been over tightened or what but 10 cents part got me 80 $ off 🤯🤯🤯

Let me ask...we just had a bad ice storm through where I live. So much ice was built up on my trees that it caused most of my branches to break and fall. As I have to cut all my trees down because they are dead as a doornail, do you think it'll cut through the trunk that is maybe no more than a 1.5 to may 2 ft tops?

That's what I was afraid of... Looking at the specs, the chain speed is very low. Like, 4-5mps. I think, in a pole saw application, higher chain speed is imperative. I've used mostly gas pole saws and am used to chainspeeds up there around 15-20mps. It's a bummer, because I'm really digging the 40v Ryobi chainsaws, but I want a pole saw to match.

Good review. I read where people found that the saw had difficulty coming up to speed and cutting when using the extension but it cut fine without it, any experience with that?

How come no one will tell me what to put in the tank on this saw? Gas? Oil? Combination?
@GettinJunkDone
@GettinJunkDone 3 жыл бұрын
2 cycle engines require a mixture of gas and oil at a specific ratio. Common ratios are 50:1, 40:1 and others. 4 cycle engines have a fuel tank and a separate oil port. 4 cycle engines require oil changes as a part of it's maintenance schedule. The engine in this video is a 2 cycle that takes 50:1 gas-oil mixture.
