Combination of burnout, depression and lack of incentive to continue (was starting to make a nice bit of pocket money out of the channel to use to buy things for project videos, then youtube moved the goalposts and that stopped, so no funds for projects, no videos to make!), doubt I'll revive the channel, at least not in its' current form anyway as said shed is falling apart now and too dangerous to work in any more...

@@TheRottenShed sorry to hear that, but I hope you soon find your mojo again! Been through some tough times just like you a few years back, was a bit like walking through fog all the time even the great Mustie 1 has had his share of woes. Wish you all the best for the future, keep safe 😎👍

Thanks, was a lot of personal life stuff that added to the problems, still working through stuff, but it's all life-long goings on, so walking through the fog as well as thick mud to boot, but ticking over and keeping on going...

Thank you! My Expand-It stopped working and I could try the methods you’ve demonstrated. Hopefully it’ll work again, or I’ll just have to buy another !

Hi mate I've got a Ryobi expand it and using it the blade caught something and stopped working. When I try to move the blade with long nose pliers it will move slightly as i turn left / right but just stops moving. Any ideas? Cheers Bill

Sounds like something may have broken internally, maybe broke a gear tooth or something when it jammed up, it'd need opening up to have a look inside to be sure though...

Hi, I had the same issue, for me it seemed to be the carburettor at fault (mine appeared to have been poorly built), it's possible you may need a rebuild kit for your carb (they use a fairly generic Walbro-style kit, but check before you buy!) aswell as giving it a good clean-out with some carburettor cleaner... :) For my Ryobi engine, I ended up fitting a Honda GX-31 carburettor as the original was just no good, if you check my playlists, I have a series of videos on Ryobi Repair involving that engine if it's any help... :)

omaghman on the side of the carb. There is 2 in set screws. One HI and the other LOW. Turn them both 1/4 to 1/2 turn. Bet it will work then.

I have had a few of these Ryobi tools in for repair and I can't believe they don't fit a air filter or a fuel filter on them. Its a shame really as they could last a lot longer rather than being classed as disposable machines. Other cheap brands like Cobra and Mitox (including the Mountfield, MacAllister and Stiga alternatives) fit a basic foam filter and fuel pickup filter and they are priced around the same as one of these.

Mine has a fuel filter inside the gas tank on the end of the fuel line...The air filter is a foam filter, replacements available online, and you have to soak it in 30 weight oil, then squeeze out excess.

@@the-macjagger some of the tools sold in the UK don't have either a air filter or fuel filter in the tank as they are made to be cheap for our market.

hey brother what was the original issue? was it skipping when you put it into the Ryobi multi tool? The one I have is skipping when I attach it to my tool, Im guessing maybe driveshaft is worn on mine. I first tried what you did in your video Any suggestions? or know what my problem is? Thanks, Brian.
@TheRottenShed
@TheRottenShed 7 жыл бұрын
Boles412 - the original issue was that it had been left outside for the best part of a year and had filled with rainwater, unfortunately I'm not sure what could be wrong with yours, but a worn driveshaft could be a good place to start... :)

Brian, if you take it apart there is a little plastic bushing on the end of the drive cable. This will be stripped out, same for me. it's a 5$ part... 791-181851 You can see the bushing on the end of the cable at 3:11 mark in the video.

Do you think this machine is worth it? I found one on craigslist with the attachments for $75. Mostly just want the edger but it'd be nice having a backup string trimmer for my lawncare biz. Just not sure if I should pick it up or just save my money for something with a bit more quality.

From a home-user standpoint, it's a good machine, it was a PITA to get mine running (bad carb), but it's worked nicely so far since I did, but personally I wouldn't recommend it for commercial use, it's got a few "cheapskate" features that would probably wear it out too quickly if used hard for a business purpose, for that sort of thing I'd recommend looking for a Honda 4-stroke version... :)

Agree, i've had mine over 10 years and it runs like 1st day. I did have to adjust valve clearance, but it was easy.

It had been left outside for the best part of a year by my neighbour (it was his originally) and got water inside it, so needed cleaning out, regreasing and relubricating to restore it, works nicely now... :)

sanitaireC12 what was all the liquid/grease/oil used in the video?
@TheRottenShed
@TheRottenShed 7 жыл бұрын
The first liquid used to clean it was old stinky petrol (useful as a solvent, useless as a fuel), the grease was just some multi-purpose stuff I had (forget what kind it is), and the spray oil was the last of my 3-in-1 oil, though I did dribble on a little SAE30 afterwards just to keep it "wet" with oil...
