Definitely! They are pretty much the same form factor, and you can store your nails the same way I do.

Really glad I found your channel. Have been working on french cleat racks for various tools and couldn't visualize one for the nail gun but yours should do rally well. Thanks

Really glad you like our design! It still works great and we love having the nails right there with the guns. Hope yours turns out just as well!

Hi, I have just made this but modified to also hold the 23g nailer. I just added an extra bay. It's perfect. Thanks for the content.

I always love your videos where you overlay the measurements onto the video so that I can screenshot them and have them on my phone when I hit the workshop. Since this one did not have them, I went ahead and made one for you. :) This uses your measurements, but I will modify them slightly for my pneumatic Milwaukee brad nailer. Hmmm.. Can't attach an image I guess, so I messaged it to your Facebook account.

That's a nice, straightforward design using a minimal amount of wood. Well done! I have the same guns and you're so right that they are bulky to store, especially the 16 ga. one. And I second the approach of mounting them with the grips facing outward from the wall. A possible mod to consider is making the four tool supports as trapezoids, where the tops slope downward toward the wall. That might require adding a half inch or so to the length of those pieces but it would hold the tools at a slight downward angle which I think would be a bit more secure -- and you could eliminate the little support blocks. I am starting to fill out my french cleat walls and have sub'd to check out your other ideas. Thanks!
@AtomicDairy
@AtomicDairy 3 жыл бұрын
Love the trapezoid idea! We did think of an inclined mount but the nail guns are tall and that would have swung the bases outward and required an inclined support for the nail rails on the guns. But you are very correct about it being more secure and we are designing inclined mounts for our future jigsaw and circular saw mounts. Those two saws don't have the long face that the nail guns have.

I have a small work shop/garage and to maximize space I installed a wall of French Cleats... my nail guns take up a lot of space... your video has given me ideas on how to create space. My nail guns are all pneumatic and I was looking at your Ryobi's... how dependable are they? I'm out for the maximize work shop/garage in a small space... that's the reason for the French Cleats... as soon as I saw your first video I subscribed! Good videos!!!

What size are the tool side cleats are they all 1x3x8 cut at 45 ° to match the railing or can you use other sizes? Thanks
@AtomicDairy
@AtomicDairy 2 ай бұрын
My cleats are 1x3 cut down the middle at 45-degrees and I just cut lengths to match the wall. Others have used larger boards and different lengths, which is also good, but you always need that 45-degree angle on the cleats. Also, my cleats are spaced 3" vertically but others use larger spacing. You just have to decide what works best for your application.

Has anyone figured out a good way to mount the Ryobi 15 ga nailer? It’s a 34 degree nailer and is awkward for hanging (but nice to nail into tight spaces).
@AtomicDairy
@AtomicDairy Жыл бұрын
I have wondered about this as well but haven't got that nailer. Maybe when we add to our nailer roster we'll have to sit down and figure the angles out for that.

Please consider storing your nail guns without batteries in them. As you said, you don't wanna get shot! A nail gun with no power source (and better yet, no nails) is going to be safer. But hanging them up high is great idea if any young folks have access to your shop.
@AtomicDairy
@AtomicDairy Жыл бұрын
Good point and that is precisely what I do normally. I just left them on for the video to show that the mount can handle the tools with or without batteries. The only tools I store with installed batteries are the drills, which get the most use. Everything else is stored empty.

Is there a practical purpose to adding the nails after the glue dried? I get the screws but not the nails. This is a real question I’m not being a jerk.
@AtomicDairy
@AtomicDairy 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the boxes of nails hold 5,000 nails each and can get a bit heavy when stacked. So I put in the nails to improve shear strength of the shelves. The glue is strong but I wanted that extra strength. I put the nails in after gluing because I couldn't figure out how to clamp the pieces effectively. So I just glued and added the nails when I was able to flip the whole structure over without parts falling off.

We used 1 5/8" screws. It was a usable length and we had an extra box of them.

Now you've got nail guns sticking half way across your room.
@AtomicDairy

Exactly! They stick out only as much as the rest of the tools, and are far more accessible and usable than hanging the tools sideways. Highly recommend hanging your tools facing out!

10’s of thousands?? I don’t think so... maybe 1000 max
@AtomicDairy
@AtomicDairy 3 жыл бұрын
No really, tens of thousands. The 18ga boxes hold 5,000 nails and the 16ga boxes hold 2,500. That means I have a little over 27,000 nails on the rack now. A full load of five 18ga boxes (5x5,000) and four 16ga boxes (4x2,500) would give me 35,000 nails on the rack. It's crazy but that really is what this rack can hold and it's why I talk so much about weight in the video. This thing is heavy when loaded!
