Thanks for the video. I’ve been unable to find lauan wood that’s bendy or flexible like in your video. I’d appreciate any advice or direction.

This is great, and just what I had in mind to minimise heat loss through the windows during winter. A little concerned it may lead to condensation issues, so thinking of adding some ventilation holes to prevent this issue. Thanks!

Silly question, but seems like the woodglue is the only thing supporting a sleeping persons weight. (2 x 4 with the slats resting on top). Is it strong enough for that? Thinking about putting some screws into the length wise 2 x 4
@AtomicDairy11 күн бұрын
The glue is stronger than the wood and it is applied all along the longest side of the bed. But supporting screws are never a bad idea. They can only make it stronger.

Hello. Thank you for such a wonderful video. I’m building the same box and very much appreciate this. Question, bondo, I am trying to think of a reason to not use it, devils advocate. Heat retention? Moisture or box not breathing…any of these situations come up? Thanks

Good to know when you need a bed in a pinch! This would be great to stow away a guest bed. Get it out when you need it and put an air mattress or a thick folding mat on it. Tuck it away when not in use. Tyfs ❤
@AtomicDairy19 күн бұрын
Glad you liked it, we have indeed stored it away just as you describe from time to time. It's in regular use now though.

This is great. My goal for this winter is to redo my French cleat wall and organize my garage. My old hammer rack has dowels and I did kind of a crappy job on it. They are twirling and coming undone and the hammers fall sometimes. This one will eliminate that. And this video is thorough but easy to understand.

I like the idea of using thinner back plates as opposed to every woodworker using the usual 3/4" boards, those always look like an overkill for the tools they're holding. Are you sure this thinner scraps holding your multitool by just glue is trustworthy though?
@AtomicDairy23 күн бұрын
Absolutely. I use Titebond III, which is waterproof when dry, so I don't have to worry about humidity. In the last five years of cycling winter/summer temperatures I've never had a tool holder fail. You just don't need a 3/4" backboard to hold up a single tool.

Can the legs be more than 11 inches so that there will be more than a 8 inch clearing ? I would like my bed a bit higher and I would like to put more underneath the bed but,I don’t want to compromise the strength of the legs.
@AtomicDairy23 күн бұрын
That's not too much higher and shouldn't be a problem. Just bolt your legs together well and it will be fine. We built it this height because we had specific under-bed storage boxes we wanted to use.

Could you please tell me what the DESIRED height of the base of this bed is, when completed? So that, added to the actual height of our mattress, will give us a Final Height of this bed at mattress-top. Obviously, this number will vary depending on the total "thickness" height of one's selected mattress. This is important to know up front -- we have an habitual end-user of this bed, who will need it at a specific height. Thanks!! Brilliant!!

Thanks for showing me your build . Great job.! I have a back hallway that I am going to do this in. I have the space to extend it forward outside of the drywall to make a 6 inch deep shelf.

That's going to be a very useful depth for your shelves! We are limited to smaller cans, but for our application that works well. Glad I could help and good luck with your build!

Theres a cool story about how the cubi point o club was stripped of everything in the middle of the night and packed onto a c130 for shipment to Pensacola. Apparently Olongapos mayor wanted to maintain the place as a tourist attraction. I guess with the withdrawal the Philippine government could basically pick and choose what they wanted to keep, but they didnt put in a request for the o club in time 😂. The navy wasnt going to let them keep all that history. Story i was told is that the mayor was absolutely furious when he discovered what had happened but by then it was out of Philippine airspace and on its way to Pensacola.
@AtomicDairyАй бұрын
I had never heard that story. I'm glad they took it to Pensacola so it could be preserved. I certainly enjoy visiting it!
