Any idea how long a standard propane tank will last with this machine? At least in your experience?

Being as I am in Texas I've not had to use it for all that long just yet. Using it in the garage for a few times to warm it up I ended up using about 1/8th of the bottle but that was when it was only dipping into the 30s. I'm sorry I cannot give a more precise number than that from personal experience. A calculation with the maximum BTUs of 60,000 it would be 0.656 gallons per hour or 15.75 gallons per day. Hopefully that helps. Thank you for watching and asking a great question.

@ thanks for the reply! I’m sure I would use much more up here in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.

Oh yeah, you really would....down here we rarely stay below freezing for more than a week at a time. I would love to hear how others in colder climates like it, so if you do end up buying it please let me know how you like it.

@@TBKHomeworld we are starting an outdoor curling club up here in Hayward, WI this winter and I think one of these would go a long way towards keeping us warm enough when not actively playing in some cold temps

It would certainly put out a lot of heat and would be 'portable' with the ability to use the 18v battery, the propane tank is the only thing that isn't as easily carried around. I could see it being a major success for your use case and you could probably get away with using it on low most of the time, that should allow it to run about twice as long. Sounds like a fun time, I hope you all have great success and a ton of fun!

Great review. I like how Ryobi has a few items that can either use an electrical cord or a standard 18v battery. Are you able to review other Ryobi equipment that uses both electrical cord/18v battery?

Sure, I have several other Ryobi items that have hybrid technology, I will work on getting those items reviewed for you. I also have a handy 3D print model on printables which allows several other tools to be used as hybrid even if they weren't built for it. I have created a video going over the tools I own that use this dual power technology: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqa4gqppdqd-bJI

Thank you for informative video. I was just looking at this heater at Home Depot today. We have a 20x24" (2 1/2 car garage) We use it for our motorcycles and do motorcycle content videos on my sons channel. Since we live in northeast Ohio, it gets really cold.. Do you think this would be good in a garage. Thinking if we put a carbon monoxide detector inside and/or could leave the side standard size house door open to help ventilate?

I use it in my 2 car garage that has an open ceiling (no sheetrock) with a good 18 foot tall roof line, so there is a large volume for it to heat up. It does an extremely good job of heating the space even when it is 20*F, however I do live in Texas so YMMV. If you use this in your garage then you will want to make sure that it is off to the side and you are not using flammable products while this is in-use since it is 100% a source of flame which can cause things like gas, brake cleaner, etc to combust and possibly cause a bad burn/explosion. I'm sure you are aware of this but dropping that in there for any future reader. You are 100% correct, a carbon monoxide detector and leaving a door and/or window open is important when using something like this. It consumes a lot of oxygen very quickly, as long as you do those two things you should be perfectly fine. This thing pumps out some serious BTUs! IMHO this would do a great job of heating the space quickly, once you get it to temp it might be easier to regulate the heat with a more traditional electrical space heater, oil heater, etc. Again, living in Texas my use case is different. :) Thanks for watching and commenting.

Are you having an issue with it igniting due to flow? Mine lights quickly each time and I've not had any problems with it....be sure you are using the supplied line and regulator and listen very carefully to the propane tank when you open the valve and start it up. You should not hear a loud 'click' or continous clicking coming from the propane tank as the gas starts to flow, that usually means the flow preventer has kicked in as it thinks there is a leak. My old propane grill I had with a supplied tank was horribly bad about that and constantly caused the propane tank to think there was a leak....frankly it drove me nuts. I replaced the tank and it fixed my issue. Even if you are using one of those swappable tanks from a big box store you could have one that is more picky. Additionally, just because it works on one item doesn't mean it cannot have that problem on another. Hopefully that is helpful info. Thanks for watching and commenting!
