hope the unit is still running..........in order to keep it running well, use ONLY non ethanol gas....NOT unleaded gas. use that and mix it with your 2.6 oz oil.....

i bought a new ryobi trimmer 25 cc ry251 from home depot , i had for 4 month no problem at all. When done using a trimmer, drain the gas in a small gas can. Start the motor and til motor quit ( out of gas). I use same gas in gas can.

there is no reason to do that except over the winter

I have a Ryobi, 30 cc two cycle shaft trimmer, I bought it new about 15 years ago and very well built very durable the spin shaft finally wore out, nobody wants to service them anymore my area I will have to go to directly from the dealer.. I looked at the 25cc at Home Depot for 99 bucks I will probably buy that one..I compared it to the echo and the echo was 149 99..

if the trimmer doesn't fire after 3 pulls it's time to junk it. a new one should have started on second pull. these Ryobis have terrible carbs. i had 3 and all have had problems even the industrial Ryobis.
@RobSnyder
@RobSnyder 9 жыл бұрын
Yeah umm instructions on the side of the trimmer says start at full choke give it a couple of pulls then half choke it should start and then let run for 15 secs then put into run. When you follow those instructions it starts up every time
@Canyahemi57

Well, I followed the instructions many times. Took the trimmer back after a week of ownership. I do NOT recommend this product

Rob Snyder it does for me. The trimmer is sooo easy to start. I put to full choke and pull it 4 times then I put to half choke and pull it until it starts ( should start in one to two pulls) it does for me.

I have had this trimmer now almost a year and a half now. No issues much like you have it started almost instantly a few pulls under full choke and then 1 but ever once in a blue moon two pulls under half choke and she up and going . I still not surer what marc problem was .

I can't figure out how to take off the bump knob to put a different head on. I've tried everything but breaking it off. The knob turns and turns but does not come off like my other trimmers. Is this one not meant to swap heads for edging blades?
@loweffortgaming2593
@loweffortgaming2593 9 жыл бұрын
It does come off. The first one I bought was returned as it wouldn't start. Coincidently, the the bump knob (LOL, "bump knob") also seemed to be stuck. Would have taken pliars to it, but, ya know, not starting was a slightly bigger issue. Second one works great and had no problems removing bump knob turning clockwise. Yours might be stripped?
@mairasanchez3589
@mairasanchez3589 8 жыл бұрын
+justin jones did you ever figure it out. Im having the same issue now. My hands burn from turning the knob clockwise as the manual says.
@jjones8600
@jjones8600 8 жыл бұрын
+Maira Sanchez yes, I did but I had to pry mine off. I'm sorry but I don't remember if that knob needs to be turned counter clockwise or clockwise to get the nut off, it's been a while. That knob has a wrench like back to it that u can't see that the nut fits into perfectly (but is plastic and will strip extremely easily), u just have to line that up with the nut, u should feel it snap in place slightly as you turn it and press the knob down simultaneously and then should be able to turn it left or right to remove it. That's how it should go but I stripped that knob piece and it forced me to pry it off.
@jjones8600
@jjones8600 8 жыл бұрын
+Maira Sanchez also if you keep turning and turning and nothing ever releases to take it off then it's more than likely stripped out and needs to be pried off like I did mine... Unfortunately.
@jjones8600
@jjones8600 8 жыл бұрын
+Maira Sanchez you should be able to take it back to where u picked it up and if they can't get it off either they might just switch it out for u or refund ur money or u might have to contact Ryobi directly and they will most likely send you a new one and you would just send that one back. I'm sure they get a lot of complaints about this same issue. It's cheap $$$ and it's a well known brand. They should be able to help u. Hope this helps.

what kind of gas are best for this, I'm a first time buyer, should I put gas like I put in my car or is it a special one I missed at home depot??
@Canyahemi57

You must buy 2 cycle mix and mix it with regular gas. Ask a store associate for details
@emanuelzhimrules
@emanuelzhimrules 7 жыл бұрын
Theres also a 50:1 mixture they sell at home depot that you just pour in that is already mixed. Just bought this trimmer today. Might go back to get the mixture tomorrow.

USE NON-ethanol gas!!!! I "used to" use regular (vehicle use) unleaded and as the machine wore on, I had a hellava time to start it TIL....my coworker told me to use NON ethanol gas and with the oil.....mix it up and dump your reg gas.... I also know there is TruFuel selling at HDs.....dont buy that also! it helps only a little while.

Inconsistent to say the leist. Had a ryobi 26cc never again stop start, hot stop. U can get a stihl for around 200 the hs or fs 40 or 50. Much better and starts with a pull. 27cc

Fyi, for future reference, most folks tune into these product videos to obtain product operation and usefulness, vs. watching someone unpacking that product. We've just never grasped the rationale. behind someone using a great deal of bandwidth to show something as useless and uninformative as "unboxing" a product, in this case, 85% of the video!
