Just bought the tiller with two chargers and four 6 ah batteries for 499!!! Yes from Home Depot, brand new in box!! The batteries alone are worth more than $700!

I scored the same deal. I don’t even need a tiller but the batteries are the real deal. I guess I should buy a property with some room for a garden now.

Its because they were discontinued as to why they're selling them so cheap. I just ordered one a couple weeks ago, got damaged during shipment and got sent back to the distribution warehouse unfortunately....so, now I'm waiting for them to ship another unit, so probably a couple more weeks. Its January so tilling right now ain't gonna happen since the ground is frozen LOL, just the fact I ordered it 2 weeks ago and now have to wait another couple weeks at least.

I actually found it on sale for $599 from the Provo Home Depot. I went in for batteries and came out with a tiller cause it was cheaper than the batteries by themselves. Mine came in a box so I got to assemble myself. Not nearly as easy as some other tools, but definitely not hard. Shame on Home Depot and I'll remember to ask for the boxed version in the future to make sure it's my fault when done wrong.

I've broken new ground with those little Mantis-type tillers, just a buzzy little two-stroke and high-speed tines. On the first pass it looks almost like you haven't done anything; by about the fourth pass the machine's tine are buried and turning almost without resistance in deep, fluffy loam. I'm certain that the Ryobi can perform at least as well as that.

Did you buy 14 batteries? Or how long do the recharge?

💯 what a mess this was… we have a new one now (that we assembled) and it is much better.

You made a solid decision about returning that back to HD. Whoever put that together needs to find another job. Great video, you are a hard worker.

Quite a common problem not just at HD....anything pre-assembled needs to be gone through completely before you even use it. My lawn tractor was either assembled at closing at the dealership, or by a drunk, a lot of stuff had to be adjusted, lubricated, and tightened down on it....I knew from past experience to go through everything as if I was assembling it myself, so I caught everything before I even used the lawn tractor.

The tires and the tines are installed backwards LOL. I've had a Troy Bilt Horse model roto-tiller for years, I gave it to my cousin as he picked up another one and was going to take both tillers and make 1 good one out of them. I don't have much use for it anyhow, I have a 50" roto-tiller for my tractor, but for the flower beds occasionally a small walk behind tiller is useful. I ordered the Ryobi 40V rear tine roto-tiller for that purpose, and since it won't be used frequently, I prefer the battery version so I don't have to deal with storage issues with fuel and oil. My tiller was damaged during shipping and got sent back to the distribution center...so I'm waiting for them to send out another one. You broke a shear pin in the tine assembly that's what that noise was and why it was hitting the metal, and with the tines being backwards that don't help at all.

It's on sale now for $499, would you have kept it for $499?

Yes, in fact I went out and bought another one for that. Just haven't done a video on it yet. $500 is the right price point for this tiller.

Its been discontinued that is why you are seeing them so cheap. His issues was he didn't bother to go through the tiller before he used it, and playing the blame game instead of just adjusting and tightening things down before using it would have prevented all the issues he had....you can't tell me hd didn't know that stuff was loose, etc. by just loading the machine he should have realized the handles were loose, etc. wheels are on backwards, tines on backwards....they threw everything together loosely at HD, and as a customer he should have known to go through it completely before he used it....he has no excuse except he failed to do the basic checklist of making sure things were installed/assembled properly, etc. $500 isn't a bad deal at all, I think that's what I paid for mine, before taxes....although mine is only going to come with 2 of the 6AH batteries, but still, for $500 it ain't bad at all, each battery is $200 alone, so just about got the tiller free LOL. I'm waiting on mine to arrive, first one I ordered was damaged during shipment at some point and got returned to the distribution warehouse, and now waiting for them to ship out another one.

The tires are reversed. Didn't you notice how they clogged up? Check the You-tube videos for other rear-tine tillers.

This is what I've found when I let them assemble... Missing parts, assembled incorrectly, and it is more work to disassemble in order to assemble correctly than it would have been to start with a factory fresh carton.

Big plus is that tillers and cultivators are not used too often so if it were gas storing it would long periods would be bad.

That is why I never buy floor models. I also will never buy the first Gen of any product. I have a first Gen ryobi snowblower and the new batteries won't fit in it. Still a ryobi fan love their products

It needs a few things for me to get onboard: steering control from the handlebars and a PTO or way to use implements. You can of course remove the tines.

I'm guessing that Home Depot's responsible for the unit being assembled wrong, an issue that wouldn't occur if you ordered online. But for 1600 dollars, and going through that many batteries in one go? My garden isn't as large as yours, but I go through 2 40V batteries with the tiller attachment to the string trimmer, which seems to only go only a little less deep than this expensive unit. I've been using the broad fork more because it easily breaks up my hard soil though . . . and it was only ~250.

What do you expect from from Home Depot. A bunch of people work there but never seem to know anything about the products in that store or you get the default response "Oh thats not my department " and they walk away. So when some numbnut kid puts your tiller together do you expect it to be right? Also they put the tires on the wrong sides as well

After listening to all of the assembly blunders. I couldn't help but imagine being the Home Depot employee that did this. And realize my bad day at work has now been immortalized on the internet. As for Home Depot. I've had my own issues with them. Even going to far as to report them to my states Consumer Protection Agency for false and/or misleading advertising. Specifically when viewing the web page they describe like delivery the next day if ordered during a certain time. Then you pay. THEN they send you to a page to schedule delivery which turns out to be a week or more out from what they are claiming before you pay. I bought a riding mower that was absolutely filthy, flat tire. This of course was like a $2500 riding mower. My first ever. So definitely left a bad taste on me for that.

I think the downfall the the light weight. You see the wheels turning but you have to push hard. Your right about adding weights to front. Old tillers got weight from the motor
