I have my 10" Ryobi compound miter saw mounted to this, and find when cutting 12" lumber the material supports at each end don't come forward enough to support the lumber, creating a particularly hazard situation where the waste piece flipped forward off the stand. It caught the blade guard and pushed it into the blade, and now the guard is it several pieces. The support rollers need to be a bit longer for anything wider than I'd say 8" material. Maybe this was stated on the box or manual somewhere but I missed it. The rollers and stops also aren't level / square with the saw, causing a challenge when making cuts on linger pieces.

I have almost the exact same setup. Just got my stand 2 days ago from Home Depot for $69.99 (3/2024) I believe is what I paid for it and paired it with a Chicago Electric 10 inch sliding compound miter saw from Harbor Freight. Looks and seems like it’ll be a good rig, getting ready to put it to use this spring around the house.

Although I don't really use my chop saw that often. My old craftsman plastic guard broke so bought a new Ryobi 10 in sliding compound saw. It is currently $249 at HD. There was a bonus that included this same Ryobi stand which is $149 at HD. Couldn't pass up that deal. It is for sure a great stand. You had to have it either shipped to the store or to your home. I went to HD and if you bought it right from the store you would have had to pay the $149 for the stand. So ordering it online. I got saw for the $249 and the stand for free.

Dave, what a great video! I am an absolute newbie at all of this wood shop stuff--I'm kind of feeling like I'm feeling my way through in the dark as to learning which things I should buy and which things are just gimmicks. Your video was very informative, you showed all the key elements and how they worked, and you were very reassuring. I did buy the Ryobi saw already and I'll wait a bit and buy the stand when it goes on sale since I don't have time to try building anything. Your grandchild did a fabulous job of filming! Thanks to both of you!

Great video - I bought the same stand and I really like it. Ryobi sells another stand for about $170, and as far as I know the differences are minimal: 1. The more expensive stand holds about 400 lbs, while this one is rated for 300. 2. The more expensive stand has arms that reach out to 9' - this one reaches out to 7'. 3. I've heard that the more expensive stand can accommodate sliding miter saws at 12", while the cheaper one (the one in this video) is limited to 10", though I'm not positive about this. To me, the differences are pretty minimal and it makes this an amazing deal.

Thanks for the review. I bought a Dewalt sliding miter saw last year because I got a good price on it, but I didn't really have a real project for it until just now. I have been looking at all kinds of stands (dewalt of course) but I think this ryobi one is the one I am going to go with after seeing your review. Sure the Dewalt one is able to hold 16 ft boards, but the likelihood that I would be cutting 16 foot material is just not there. Thanks for helping me make up my mind.

I’m 6’ 4” and I agree that the stand is a perfect height and you can add a couple more inches when you install the miter saw. The one I purchased 4/3/23 was a damaged box instead of 129.00 which was on sale from 179.00 . So it looks like I got the best price on a brand new product nothing but the box was damaged. I got mine for half price of the sale price for 65.00 plus tax.

Great video. I'm a beginner... Would this be a good stand to make repeat cuts of exactly the same length? Hoping there's some sort of way to create a "stop block" to achieve this without having to measure and mark each piece of lumber. Thanks for your help! :-)

Hi Gerald, Yes you can use the end Plate at the roller adjust up above the roller and locks into place as a stop block on the stand. then just adjust the extension to the length you need it to be. I also use it as an extra outfeed for my tablesaw for sheet goods. My next project is to mount a motor, 4 inch belt drivin jointer (which I can really use the material supports as well.
