THANK YOU!! We brought this from a flee market for $60 slightly used, with no instruction. Your video answered all of our questions on how to operate. GREAT VIDEO!!

And you can go cordless with the P553. Same saw, just in their 18-volt line. That would make a great little saw for someone doing baseboards, moldings, etc. Carry it right in the house with a couple of batteries and you're good to go. It would even be good for doing some light framing with 2x4s or cutting deck planks, etc.

I just got a ridgid version. I use it to cut cabinet trim its fantastic. No more taking up a ton off space no more having to lug a round a huge heavy miter saw. No more taking up half the space in my truck.

Doesn't stack up to my commercial grade 10" sliding miter, but I use this saw a lot. Its perfect for small framing jobs, trim, decking, railings etc. Its VERY lightweight and compact enough to use on scaffolding and on a roof. It's also GREAT for trim. I connect my cordless vacuum and cut inside, on decks, in garages without making a bunch of noise and a mess. It's a great little saw...just have the right expectations and you'll love it.

I bought the Ryobi 10in Sliding Compound Miter Saw back along with their stand in early Summer. Excellent saw in general, it works well, the fence is square and it slides which is awesome. If I was a cabinet maker or fine furniture maker I would splurge for a Festool Kapex but for the average diy'er, this saw is more than adequate. Maybe in the future I will upgrade to a Makita or Bosch but this is a good saw for the price.

I have an old blue Ryobi 10” miter saw that I use just as a traveling saw. It’s pretty light. And it’s like 1/2 the weight of my big saw that comes in at like 60 lbs. I think a 10” saw is the smallest a person should go for non sliding. And it’s a little more of an advanced technique but you can pick up the 2x6 with the saw blade running and that’ll give you enough cut depth to get through it. It can be a little dangerous to do.

Good review. Looking into getting a first miter saw. But, wouldn't getting the 10" size be better and more versatile? I think for $5 more, you could get the 10" Ryobi miter saw instead at $134.

Great review, even though I am not in the market for a budget saw, I love listening to your honest and expert opinion. Speaking of...for someone who is not a professional but is also going to be putting in some time in my workshop, what would you recommend for I guess what you would call and advanced DIYer? Maybe you have already made a video for the type of compound miter saw I am looking for. I am willing to spend a little money but I don't need anything like a Festool or that grade of saw. Thanks! Right now the Ryobi and Ridgid 10 inch compound miter saws are in the running, what do you think?

Tips. Very important if you would like to saw with precision. (avoid torsion as much as possible)! Always choose a Miter saw with a handle positioned in a vertical line above the saw blade. Everything must be aligned, slide rails, handle, and saw blade,it is much better this way the blade will not tilt. Because there is some torsion in the aluminum housing . And choose an engine with softstart on it to prevent wear of the gear and worm shaft. It is very important that everything is aligned. Here are some examples to show how the handle must be positioned above the blade. Bosch gcm 800 sj / Bosch gcm 8 sjl / Evolution rage 3 / FESTOOL KS 60 / HITACHI C12RSH2 / FESTOOL KS 60 E KAPEX / Metabo KGSV 72 Xact (This also is the case with the Miter saw without the slide rails). If you want you can test it yourself at home if there is torsion in the aluminum housing. Step-1. First you make a saw cut from +-5 mm deep in to a flat piece of wood about +- 20 mm thick. To this with the normal handle positioned on the right side of the Miter saw. Step-2. Then repeat this by pushing the saw blade down with your hand (finger) on the aluminum protective cover were the saw blade is cased in. Just now only do this without the running engine. Step-3. Now you can see if the saw blade will be positioned in or next to the saw cut. If the saw blade is (+- 0,2 / 0,5 mm) next to the saw cut then there is torsion in the aluminum housing. Step-4. therefor it is much better to choose a Miter saw with the handle positioned vertical in line above the saw blade. Conclusion: how further away the handle is from the saw blade how more chance of torsion in the aluminum housing.

Man I think alot of ree-obie get a really bad rap. I'm in the process of building a fairly large deck with a sauna and a whirlpool. My usual help called out sick for the last 2 days which made me find some other help. The old man who helped me owned all Ryobi and I have to admit...some of the some isn't 2 bad. Dont knock until you try it.....but in the mean time keep ur dewalt , makita and milwaukee.

What's the difference between a miter saw and a chop saw? To me the chop saw doesn't have the extending arm for longer reach which this saw doesn't either, so wouldn't this lack of the far reaching arm make this a chopsaw!?

the pro guys dont like Royobie they cant stand the brushless line why they pay so much more for a tool that's only a hair better .So us roybie guys get like 2 tools for there 1 there bats 2 times the price and tool higher to. Ime paying for a tool not the name.I see these guys break out 1 drill 1 saw 2 bats I break out 5 drills for every job 2 of every thing else and 20 bats lol why price difference no down time. if one gets broken i don't run to store loosing time, Bigger job got that covered to.

Guys think because the have high priced tools it makes them a pro. I see it all the time. you cant fix stupid. But I thank them for the work they lost and I got.I never stop buying new tools why I do every thing , it takes loads of tools to be able to do many types of work. that's why I always have work my price is good and the work is good. So no matter how hard you try some clown is gonna steal your tools. And your buying again. so have fun get what you like but I hope your skill is up to it, not like some clowns if it takes you 1 month to save for a tool you cant afford it, if your on a job and something goes wrong you cant afford new lol I can replace 3 a week that's a safe number
