Around 5:35. Weather and conditions also affect gas powered mowers. You'll have to use more gas on tall wet grass. You'll have to use more charge on tall wet grass. And, instead of having to run to the gas station for more gas (and oil), with electric, you just recharge right where you are at. Very convenient. Just like the 70% less maintenance. And, when Spring comes, you charge the batteries and slap them in and off you go. No Spring tuneup needed.

Great reviews! I'm 78, sold my Hustler Raptor Flip Up zero turn when we sold our home with a 1.6 acre lot. Didn't want to pay the lawn bandits in the new neighborhood $200 a month, so I bought a Milwaukee electric walk behind mower a year ago. Cuts GREAT and is self propelled, but, at the end of each pass on our 1/3 acre lot, I have to tip and turn the mower around. Here in Florida in 90 - 95 degree heat, that's two changes of clothes and at least 16 ounces of Powerade per week. Had enough. Deed restrictions don't allow any sheds or outbuildings, the garage is already packed with 2 cars and a crapload of tools, but I CAN park the 42" version behind the A/C equipment fence and throw a cover over it. Here's my question: with the Raptor Flip Up deck I had, I hit a button and the 54" deck went vertical in about ten seconds. I could easily clean the underside of the deck and remove and sharpen the three blades whenever they need it. Push the button again and the deck resumed normal operating position. How difficult is it to drop the deck on this mower and how heavy is it to lift to clean it and remove the blades? Obviously the 42" would be easier, I suppose.

@aldenpines really appreciate this feedback and question Alden. When I change/sharpen my vlades on this, I use my mower jack. It's just waster for me to donit that way, but the deck isn't that heavy. Pretty simple to remove and slide out

I may look for someone's depleted lead acid 30 or 42" and pick it up cheap and perform a Lithium swap next year. Considering the JD I bought for $300 still runs like a top, I cannot justify $5k for a mower, even if it's this cool. This is one of my favorite videos from you, though. Thanks for the details and looking forward to the Bluetti review!

You say no maintenance? So there are no grease zerks anywhere? That generally indicates the spindles get replaced as an entire expensive unit, rather than greasing the bearings then just replacing bearings when needed. Or is it even more expensive and the spindles are direct drive electric motors as opposed to belt driven from a single motor? Lack of maintenance is cheap the first season, but maintenance gets exponentially more expensive as things eventually do need fixed.

@NickWindham8 ай бұрын
5yrs is pretty generous. If you’re smart, you’ll nurse them year 1-3, then absolutely abuse them, within warrantable usage of course ;-), to ensure they all fail within the next two years well before the 5 years is up. THEN, this deal makes good economic sense because you got a few more good years worth of batteries out of it.
@wildbill23c28 күн бұрын
I agree with the warranty on the batteries, rather make it a lifetime warranty to make these companies build batteries that actually last, and are very good quality....they charge a fortune for the batteries knowing they fail, and that many people will fork out the money for the batteries to be able to keep using their tools, so they build the batteries like crap, but put premium prices on them knowing you'll be back in a couple years for new batteries when they die. Its usually not the equipment that fails its the batteries, turning that zero turn mower into a $6k lawn ornament as its useless without batteries. On the flip side of that, a gas powered zero turn the engine costs about 1/4 to 1/2 of the whole purchase price...blow and engine and you may as well buy a new mower because it'll cost almost as much to get the engine replaced.

Same way you do on any other mower, remove them, sharpen them and put them back on....or what I do is keep a spare set of blades on hand, throw the fresh blades on, and set the set that needs sharpened by the grinder to sharpen later on LOL. For these mowers I think you'd want to invest in one of the widely available mower lifts. I'd guess you could simply remove the deck and flip it over and remove the blades that way but I think a mower lift would be easier that's what I use for my lawn tractors, lift the front end of the mower enough to get my impact under the deck, zips the blades right off LOL.

Wouldn't mind one if the prices come down to earth. The batteries are what drive the prices so high I think though. $900 for a battery is ridiculous, I bet it don't cost them $100 to build the batteries seems how they're from China I would imagine. I have a a couple of the 40V tools (blower and an attachment capable string trimmer), and thinking I may get the 21" AWD mower this season too, great time to do so and be able to compare it to my Toro 22" AWD gas mower. Nothing wrong with the battery stuff if you are able to afford them for sure, the zero turn in this video seems very well built and with a 54" deck its made to cut larger properties compared to most battery powered mowers with a 30" deck or smaller. Even the 42" model wouldn't be too bad. I just bought a new lawn tractor, so it's gonna be a long time before I need another mower, maybe by then Ryobi will have an 80V lawn tractor available now that would be nice...IDK if I'd care for the zero turn stuff or not, after mowing for 30+ years with a regular lawn tractor with a steering wheel the 2 levers or a joystick would be quite a learning curve for me at least LOL I have quite a few of the Ryobi One+ tools and a few of their 4V USB Lithium tools too so, adding some more 40V and 80V tools definitely is possible in the future for me. I only have an acre, so one of the battery powered mowers would work fine for my needs, especially the 40V 21" mower since I just use a push mower to go around the border of my yard and around the trees and other obstacles and get into the places the lawn tractor can't fit LOL.

Assuming you cut grass 7 months out of the year that is $357/mo to charge (granted it's only one year). For $2500 I could purchase 728 gallons of gasoline which, using about 30 gallons per season to cut my lawn equates to around 25 years worth of gasoline. It is almost a certainty that in 25 years you will have had to at least replace your set of 80V and 40V batteries a couple times at a cost of over $4000 (3 x $900 + 4 x $400).

Ryobi seems to be the one company out making tools and stuff that really hits the market well and an E-Bike that runs off of a tool battery platform would be awesome and I think well accepted.... I mean Greenworks does have an offroad battery powered bike, and they have a battery powered go-kart too, but their bike is more of a small pit type bike with offroad tires, definitely not a commuter type bike and I think it only has like 15 minutes of run time off a 56V battery, so overall not that great of an option, same with the go-kart.

Call me fussy, but the joy stick is not for me. Also, how does it do for scalping the grass? With the joy stick and the deck raising handle on the same side, you can't raise rhe deck while mowing. The deck for my Exmark zero turn is lifted with my right foot making it easy to avoid scalping. Also, my Exmark is 20 years old and running like a champ. I wonder where that Ryobi will be in 20 years.

I've generally been against these 80v mowers (and other brands cordless) because there just not economical. There is such a price premium that almost nobody would break even in a reasonable time, if at all, especially if batteries need to be replaced. The Spring Black Friday deal finally made the ZTs price competitive with a comparable gas machine, but there's still the question of battery longevity. Well, today I named to snag one of the 30" ZT on the close out deals they're running, for $799. At that price is worth a shot, even if the batteries need to be replaced in a couple years. Fingers crossed...

Are you kidding? $8,000.00 Mower, $ 2,000.00 Ecoflow, $2,000.00 Bluetti, and battery replacements of another $10,000 in a year or so!!!! I bought a John Deere riding mower in 2011 and paid $2,200 out the door. Filters and oil every 2 seasons plus gasoline , and I am still way under $3,000. Just not worth it my friend, and I really wanted to buy one of the Ego brand zero turns but I just don't see it. Small battery operated lawn care tools are great, but those mower prices are ridiculous.

The cost of replacement batteries is what'll kill ya LOL. That and the price of the mower. Although I have to say, I just bought a new lawn tractor and it was almost $5,000 but its a dealer model rather than a box store model, so its got a larger engine, fabricated deck, upgraded transaxle with a differential lock, so I mean the price on that Ryobi zero turn isn't really too bad I guess...you are more so paying for the batteries I think LOL.

Look like great machines, but that price... can still buy a lot of gas, and Tylenol for the common gas powered headaches. Ryobi could probably sell a lot more if the price was comparable to a gasser, not twice the cost.

6k for the 42in and 5k for the 30in. Way too expensive. The new Ego Tractor is $3,999 and Greenworks has a new 60v 30inch Zturn coming out for $3999 as well and a regular 30in 60v tractor for $3500. Ryobi best price check or we’ll see another fire sale on these like they did with the RM480 when Home Depot sold them for $500.

Unfortunately, my Ryobi has been a pile of shit. It's only one year old and just had its 2nd motor controller explode with three-inch flames shooting out of it. At over 300.00 bucks a pop, I'd be better off with a gas mower, which I will return to after selling this pile of junk. After looking online, I see that it's a common issue that Ryobi has with these mowers, but don't worry; they always have over 300 of them in stock, but it will take a month to have them shipped to you. I really wanted to like the Ryobi, but it's dead to me now. The new controllers are identical, so the issue isn't even fixed. However, it does work really nice, like when it's not on fire. 🤣

I have a gf that works at TTI. That’s the parent company. These mowers are NOT selling, production has stopped, they are having to take days off. Soon there will most likely be a huge layoff.
