Excellent choice of ember tetras for your tank. Thank you for continuing coverage of your rice fish and your uncle’s rice fish. I was finally able to get rice fish from a company that sells aquatic organisms to scientists for research. (Fun fact, rice fish are the first vertebrate to reproduce orbiting the Earth). I obtained 8 rice fish, 4 males and 4 females, hatched October 7, 2019. (In science research, it’s important to know exact age). I have them set up in a 95L black plastic livestock watering trough I bought at a farm supply store. I understand why your uncle enjoys watching his fish. I do the same thing. I enjoy feeding them a little bit several times a day and sit on an overturned bucket to watch for several minutes. Beetles are my favorite car! And I drove one until I blew the engine on it!

I love cars. Now that I’m older I’ve been torn between either become a Toyota classic restorer or VW. My dad was a certified Ford technician, so I grew up working on and owning classic Mustang’s. I rescaped this weekend. Have a 40b that I dirted and have a kessil knockoff. Now I need lots of stem plants.

Funny you should mention Japanese products. We just got a quarium soil from Japan. I live in Taiwan and typically all we have to choose from is various kinds of sand or colored pebbles. I went with the colored pebbles because I didn't like the smell of the sand it was just way too salty even after rinsing it several times:) I was thinking about switching over to the aquarium soil but I was wondering if it would sink to the bottom like the pebbles do. that's one of the reasons I like using colored gravel because it just sinks very easily and also you just put a piece of Driftwood was various kinds of plants that require low light and it looks pretty good

I have a pea puffer tank. Dont remove all the snails, just let them make a fresh batch to feed the puffers. 3 puffers will be ok in such a tank, but they really do need a massive plant load or whatever. They will get agressive towards eachother. Does not matter if u have the right female/male ratio. I have them with otto's /amanos and even neo cherry shrimp.

Just got 6 more embers to add to my 20 embers school. 26 embers now. The first Tetra you saw is reed tetra. There are three types in this genus. One is kitty tetra - lowae, other is reed tetra - hyphessobrycon elachys, third one I don't remember. But this one looks like reed tetra first one in the fish store. Experts can tell better though

Excellent choice of fish for that tank. I'd choose the same species of fish if I had a tank like that. Alternatively,I'd keep Espei or Exclamation Point Rasboras if I had a tank that is set up like the one you have because those two species also stay rather small. Are those tetras gonna be the final fish in your tank or will you adding one more species?

Hahah good luck! I love they way they swim, and they’re very curious creatures! Saw in the comments section that it depends on the personality of each puffer, whether you can have tetras or endless with them, and he’s definitely correct. My pea puffers are with amano and cherry shrimp and they’ve been good to them. Good thing you’ve got extra tanks. Good luck and hope you’re doing good in Japan 😊✌️

spawning mob - important is that there is no cotton in it, tie it together with a fishing string so that no water comes out threw the string. breeding killifish over 25 years now, used a lot of spawning mobs. the single fish looked very similar to Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi. good that you didn't get the red neon because those stay in blackwater in nature and like also places with lots of plants.
