Thanks to everyone who supported me riding this event! Lots of mistakes were made but a lot was learned that I can now try to help the next guy that wants to go. A big reason for going was just to have the experience of an indoor event in Europe that I can share and help the next generation. Other than that I more than met my goals of making it through at least one section and not crashing too hard. Luckily the sections were not as hard as a true X-trial, so they were much more approachable for me although I still didn’t have the confidence to try them! Seeing how easy they were for the top guys really shows how much higher the level is that they ride at. It is even more incredible in person! Anyway, it was awesome to know people were cheering me on back home! Now it’s time to get ready for the nationals and super trial series in the states. 👍 -Pat

No idea why you're so down on yourself going into these things, you're one of the best riders in the world dude!!! These guys are the best in the world and you're one of them. You're only a few names down on the scoreboard from Toni Bou, that's amazing dude, simply amazing. Still, better to be humble than an asshole! Keep up the great work man👌

Trials riding is actually a graceful combination of both Performance Art and Engineering Science. Which is why this sport is perhaps the most technical in the world. Nothing pushes the interaction between a human being and a machine, more than the sport of Motorcycle Trials. Which is why this sport is so important to mankind, and the development of a sustainable 21st century.

That helped a ton to feel what is really taking place out there. So glad to have found this. I watch your personal channel, but hadn't caught this. Glad I did. Late comment.... but Dude! Dont be sad or feel let down. I have been following you since your sponsor me videos. You have a rare raw talent and you have what it takes! Congratulations on the 5th place... you got humongous balls to go there by youself with no minder and not your bike. Those guys have their bikes tailored to them and a full staff behind them. Also thanks for the footage i have always wanted to see you go head to head with the top of the top vuz i know you are top of the top.... btw because of your videos i got into trials! Cheers...

Well done Pat for what you achieved against the odds. Shows huge character to carry on through that ,which to me is the spirit of trial , loving your honesty . Interesting to hear you describe fear of injury, something I also struggle with( albeit at a much lower level) following a hip replacement it has been difficult.

On section #6 it looks like, on that scoreboard at the end, that you beat Toni and Toby, and tied Luca. Not bad.

Well I would say they were a little harsh on Toni with his score, but I think the second point was only given to him to make the three of them tied for a better show! -Pat

wonder how often injuries occur during such events? great experience BTW
@FactoryONE_Motorsports5 жыл бұрын
Usually not all that often, since the riders are usually chosen based on other results, so they should be qualified enough to ride safely. But having done nothing like this, getting hurt was all I could think about looking at the stuff. Thanks! -Pat
@katiejohns34155 жыл бұрын
Great riding as usual. You will definitely get an invite back. Would you go again if they asked you?
@FactoryONE_Motorsports5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I really don't know if I would at this point. I usually wait a while before deciding on going back, and we will have to see if the invite comes again anyway. But I might rather pass the opportunity on to someone like Josh Roper, who has much more of a future in it than I do. Now that I know how it goes, I could help prepare him a bit better. -Pat
@TheFrog7675 жыл бұрын
Personally l think they should have safety mats on the sides of these indoor events, now as for outside in the natural environment nope. Also the world champion should go first everytime, how can people beat them if they learn from everybody going before them. Great work as always.
@FactoryONE_Motorsports5 жыл бұрын
I would have loved some safety mats! Unfortunately it is a show before anything else, and anything extra for safety would take away the spectacular looks and danger factor. Gotta please the crowd! It would have been awesome to see the top guys ride first, but you have to save the best for last in a show, again to please the crowd. Thanks! -Pat

Great job Pat! You should be proud... I didn't see any other USA names on top of leader board :-) You're a Pro... I can't give you any advice other than do whatever makes you and others important to you happiest in life! Thanks for sharing your inner thoughts and narrative of the event. When I get out there in the rocks above my low level skill set, that's when I think of you and reference you in my videos... like this spot at 18:58 kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYXEdpqMiLd0nsU This trail on Bronco Peak is for 4x4 Rock Crawlers in San Diego. There is a ton of granite boulders/slabs and a lot of trials opportunity at this location and its surrounding area for miles and I always think of you when I ride there. Last week was my 1st time to go down this specific trail, but I can only imagine how you could be dancing around all the way down! I would love to show you the area (Corral Canyon OHV) if you are ever interested in a visit. Right now is perfect weather compared to Wisconsin!

Hey why do american riders not train for the x-trial events? You're as good as anybody but likely have a lot less experience for these types of events. Seems like with all the production value there would be american riders and events.
@FactoryONE_Motorsports2 жыл бұрын
We don't have indoor events in the states very often so everyone focusses on outdoor riding. It's been over 10 years since we have had a "national" one. The appeal hasn't been big enough to put them on unfortunately. Hopefully another one will happen again. No one from the US has been on a high enough level to ride a true Xtrial. Hopefully that will change with some of the younger riders stepping it up lately. This event was a step below a real Xtrial which made it more approachable for me. But it was still scary since I didn't have any experience and my confidence seems to go to zero when I'm in Europe. Hopefully the next US guy that gives it a go can be better prepared and I can tell him what not to do, haha. -Pat
