It's one of the best trolls i've ever seen in a level. Scouting for what danger might be ahead while unknowingly doing something that you have absolutely no suspicion of whatsoever that ends up being what gets you. 99% of trolls are just glorified pick-a-path, this is one of the realest actual trolls I've seen on SMM2 in a hot minute.

@@mileyardgigahertz They may be more entertaining to a certain audience, but troll levels are the exact same concept as blatant pick-a-path; you either do one thing or the other, and usually have to die a few times to figure out the path by pure trial and error. In fact, I'd argue legit troll levels are worse to the average player due to the anti-softlocks that turn a regular pick-a-path into one of the least fun levels you've ever played by having to do usually mind-numbing challenges just to die and not have to lose whatever checkpoints you just spent 20 lives getting to. I agree with the dev star part though, deliberately hidden major assistance is probably the worst thing you can possibly put in a level.

Japanese level @ 17:32 is called "Whether you cry or laugh, troolls*!" and is made by Hasetan *"初見殺し" ("shokengoroshi") literally means something like "first-sight-killer/killing", basically something that is designed to kill/screw you over on your first attempt. Not sure if "troll" is the best translation, but it's the best I can come up with.

FWIW, in the Dashie level there actually *was* a dev key block up top. I'd been skeptical, because I didn't believe the creator would actually put in the work of backtracking for the red coins; and also because of that tall column of invisible blocks right near the end, which would serve no purpose if there wasn't something up there. I was somewhat surprised that you didn't take a few seconds to just check each spot in that fairly small top area. (The creator wasn't even clever about it - put it right above the little background column extending from the ground as a clear marker. But it was two spaces above it, not one, so you *barely* missed it when you jumped back to the left at 9:17. >_
