In the ice theme (where literally everything is slippery), you are actually faster sliding down gentle slopes and steep slopes than if you just ran. But in every other scenario, only sliding on a gentle slope is faster, while a steep slope is slower. Look at the video from ThaBeast721 if you want to see the tech for yourself.

Hi Ryu for optimal speed on slopes, basically on gentle slopes sliding is faster and on steep slopes running is faster except when in night ice theme sliding is always faster because you get a small speed boost at the end of the slope when you finish sliding due to ice physics.

If there’s 2 things I’ve noticed in many levels, it’s speedrun levels and Zelda-focused levels. This update shows that Nintendo is paying attention to the community. We got both a Link powerup and a speed run mechanic added. Awesome. Can’t wait until they see other popular ideas that they might improve upon.

I think I might like the Master Sword pickup more if it stopped you from killing things by jumping on them. The powerup is so versatile and overpowered that I feel taking away something super-traditionally-Mario would be a nice counterbalance. Besides, Link has never had the power to jump on things to kill them, so it would even make sense, right?

Hm, I just had a neat idea. They could add Reward Items which give you like 5 lives if you gather 3, but the catch would be that you can only make one per level, this way in Challenge you could have a slightly more collective feel for the levels in that they'd all have a piece of what you want

I have played a ton of the ninji mode and I kinda think I know how slopes work (?) If you enter a slope running from flat ground instead of actually jumping into it, you go faster You should not slide on a slope unless it's some specific slope angle You can see a lot of ninjis that wait until some specific slope angle to slide, otherwise they run With that in mind I managed to achieve a sub 19.9! But I'm still behind 800 people hahaha

If I played I'd make a red coin level that is all about using the different shot effects to collect them. Link's arrows and the bouncing ball through gates, bombs and fireballs to blow up enemies via springs and such.

It would be cool to see power-ups of more characters, just like the costumes from SMM1, but with their different abilities like Link! That could open up new possibilities for how to complete a level, depending on which character you use. You could even have a character selection at the beginning of a level, and then have different paths to clear it for each character.
