It definitely does not hold your hand. It's difficult and rewarding... But at the time games were like this. People were very critical of it since it's not like the first at all. Now when you compare all games in the series it's nothing like any of them so it gets a bad rap. But what made BotW so good to me is it didn't really hold your hand and it was relatively difficult in the beginning. If people gave this game a chance I think it would be much more loved. I like games that are more difficult. This game scared me when I was eight years old and Gannon would laugh at you.... Ugh....
@QueirozVini5 жыл бұрын
Not just death mountain... But the fact that you have to go through a dark cave to get the candle is just counter-intuitive and nonsense. Also, there is simply no way to know if you can use a magic power or not, since the cost in numbers is not intuitive at all to convert to bars, which is the only feedback you have. And this is only from this first video. There is some other odd stuff later in the game. And most other games released before this one (including the first LoZ) didn't present these flaws. These are some basic game design stuff. I'm not even discussing the difficulty curve, as it was standard at that time; or the random encounters as it was just an (failed) experiment - imho. But really, it's a very good game, and highly underrated. Consider it a much less forgiving 2D retro Dark Souls, ignore the design flaws, and you'll have a blast!

@larstallinger67955 жыл бұрын
He went straight to death mountain. Personally I usually also go for death mountain myself because it is the path to the down stab which makes the game so much more playable. He of course had no idea what he was doing but I do it on purpose. Also, I was so sad when turned back from the red axe guy the first time. To make it worse he needs to get past one to get the actual hammer too so he needs to learn how to handle them or how to avoid them. Still enjoyed the watch though. The Midoro swamp place with the power glove is actually the Midoro swamp palace. The second palace. It has a funny trap in a lava floor room that will most likely catch him unaware too.

As long as he saves two jump spells for the bridge he can get over it and reach the 4th town which has the down stab. I said it in another comment here but the biggest difficulty in the game is not knowing the terrain.

When you game over, you don't lose all your exp. 2. When you game over, you don't start all the way back at the starting palace. Actually, if they just got rid of the stupid extra life/game over system, and just have you start back at the beginning of a cave/palace when you die, that would solve both. That's actually how I play it now. I beat it a year or so ago on the 3DS virtual console and just would save state when entering a palace or cave. If I game over'd, I'd just reset the save state back to the beginning of the palace. I don't have time for all that backtracking and grinding.

Also, I had no Idea you could keep talking to the purple bot and he would tell you where to find Bagu. That's another thing that I think people give this game crap for that it doesn't deserve. Few tips: Respawning enemies are your friends. Not the ones that keep appearing and give you no points but the ones that come back when you scroll past their area and come back. Those little red and blue blobs for example. Every sixth enemy you kill will always drop either a Magic Jar or a bag of points. You need this tactic later to keep that magic meter full.Level up everything as soon as you can. Even if you feel like you don't need it, you will. And your points go back to zero when you die so use them if you got them.After getting Down Thrust it will get easier, but you will die. When that does happen go through Death Mountain again every time you start up. The more points the better.And finally you will find three Link Dolls in this game that act as extra guys. One is inside one of the Palaces but the other two don't get until you head to the final Palace. You will need them. Otherwise have fun.

So with the 6 Link dolls and the 6 Palaces that's 12 extra guys before you get to the final Palace.

I have always loved this game, and back in 1988 (IIRC), my friends could not understand why I even liked it. Recently, one of these friends - we're 39, now - has been playing it on the NES Mini and can't put down the controller.

This was the game that made the reoccurring joke that every girl loves Link a thing. Link's the textbook definition of a mack daddy.

I couldn't get into this game on NES Classic, but it's possibly because I missed the candle in the first palace, and didn't know until now! Watching you is really fun though, makes me appreciate the game more.

At least he woke up the slime. Poor Barb was stuck on that for about an hour.

Well, he made it to Death Mountain in about 50 minutes... Now I think Poo's ready for the randomizer. Sure, he's no Digshake or Eunos, but in time we can get him to where he can down on average 4 dungeons across a procedurally generated overworld in about an hour. :3

There's nothing quite like watching an amazing mario speedrunner be so bad at playing a zelda game

Dude, I've never seen anyone jump past the statue without placing the crystal. Wow. I didn't even know you could do that! 😳

This was always an interesting Zelda game, in how different it is from everything else. Sort of reminds me of ActRaiser a little bit. Not in a technical sense, just in how it was experimenting with doing multiple things.

I love how shells always get brought up heh heh. You can't just shell jump over all your problems Poo. Sometimes you have to use a magic jumpu spell like a man.

after watching this, it makes sense to go through dungeon 1 many, many, many times farming EXP. you probably gain 2-300 EXP a pass on that dungeon, and after getting the crystal you can't go in anymore

yes, im so excited^^ edit after watching: omg, seeing you suffering through death mountain was so painfull but also hilarious^^ to be fair, its one of the notorius most hard places in the game, cause you get there so early without beeing buffed to much, so you did fine for not knowing anything about it xD

i loved this game as a kid cause my older brother got to the first boss and kept dying and gave me the controller on the last life and i proceeded to get him down to his last life bar before my bro took the controller back just so he could say he killed the boss

It's hard as hell, but it's the Zelda that got me into the series, along with an illustrated story version of it I got at school, off a sale table. I'll still play it occasionally, and LoZ is still my favorite video game franchise.
