Yes Shu used to be a sushi chef so he makes really good sushi and sashimi.

It's been taking a rest because I have been focused on the opening of the cafe. There's some taro, okra, sweet potatoes and ginger in there right now.

I don't think charring things necessarily makes them last longer. It just uglies them up. For exterior wood surfaces iron oxide makes wood last longer.
