Thank you for this! Didn't think I had to really manhandle the shutter level forward more than I was sometimes, but that fixed the problem! (Was getting an orange light, signaling the film wasn't being advanced properly)
@RyuuzakiJulio5 жыл бұрын
hahaha manhandle, yeah I know the feeling, it feels like if you push more it will break, but in fact, you got to push until you can't anymore. Is a longer distance than the old 35mm cameras so it feels like an overdo, just remember all the functions you are cranking up, winding film, putting mirror down, winding the lens. So a little push won't do the trick. I'm happy if this video helped you.

Wow, thanks for the tip on the flash sync voltage problem with older studio strobes!! I was using Elinchrom D-Lite RX 4 with the Skyport with a sync voltage of 5V. I was triggering my strobes with the Skyport attached to the hot shoe on my RZ67 Pro (not the Pro II.) Sometimes it wouldn't trigger, but I imagine it's because I didn't take the dark slide out or my film wasn't advanced.....
@RyuuzakiJulio8 жыл бұрын
+Gary Bowen hahaha very probably. The manual was made around 1995 so some old studios still had those super dangerous strobes. But to be honest I have never even seen one in person. 5v is standard. The RZ actually runs out of 6v.

Hey Julio, Idk how to send direct messages. But I need to know if you know how to fix the elecronics of the RZ. I been shooting it for a while and know how it works. but I dropped it and now the shutter only fires at 1/400th. RB lenses work great, RZ only 400th. Do you know which part of the camera I have to open to fix it? I opened the bottom and didn't see anything wrong but I can't open the sides because I don't have the tool to remove the strap bolts. But do you think I would be able to fix it in the event i did get a tool?
@RyuuzakiJulio5 жыл бұрын
Hi, that's terrible news, I would first go for the basic stuff first. Battery maybe? It could not just be electronics but some physical connector that was damaged. There is so many parts inside. Ive seen the repairing manuals of the RZ but it basically just gives you the whole board as 1 replacement part, so they don't show you how exactly the electronics work or a specific diagram of how things run inside. I would say first open it and see if you can find something out of place, disconnected or broken.
@domenicming95515 жыл бұрын
@@RyuuzakiJulio Alright, thank you man. Have you ever read of anyone fixing it at this stage of damage?
@RyuuzakiJulio5 жыл бұрын
Domenic Ming in reality I don’t know exactly what’s wrong with it. It could be just battery drained or some loose cord. If anything you might need to open it. I’ve heard that some found some loose cable and solder it again and that was it.

Help…Totally stumped. Mamiya RZ67 Pro II The time exposure dial/feature doesn't seem to be working. New battery installed. All of my lenses open and closes normally at regular speeds but not on time exposure dial/mode. 30th of a sec sounds the same as 250th. Same thing in all the time exposure choices. I don't get the familiar `clunk'.(mirror up)..`buzz' (aperture doing its thing) then clunk close. Am I missing something simple or does it sound like a repair. Thanks in advance.
@RyuuzakiJulio7 жыл бұрын
Rob McEwan is this something that is just happening now? The only way that the camera ignores the dial speed is when is in Emergency Shooting Mode (the orange dot in the trigger) it will shoot everything around 1/400th of a second. Are you using the white dot instead?
@robmcewan83617 жыл бұрын
Julio, The white dot on the trigger button is pointed to the orange marker.
@RyuuzakiJulio7 жыл бұрын
Rob McEwan that is emergency mode. It doesn't use the battery and ignores safety checks like make sure the back has film and is winded, etc etc, you have to change it to the red dot for the camera to consider your speed settings.

I was shooting with mine a few days ago. After shooting 5 images, I tried to advance the film and there was no resistance in the shutter. It felt like there was no film in the camera. I had to remove the back and put it back in place to get it to work again, thus losing a few images. Have you ever experience that? If so, what was the problem? Thanks for all your videos, they are very informative.
@RyuuzakiJulio5 жыл бұрын
I haven’t experienced that without me knowing if there is film. But the largest resistance you feel is on the mirror cranking movement. The actual spin of the film it should be visible. Is hard to tell exactly from your description, but have you tried or experienced that with another film back?
@paulhyde7126 Жыл бұрын
Mine has recently developed a weird error, when it shoot, it fires but it seems to not complete the exposure then gives a flashing orange warning light and solid beep sound for as long as I keep the shutter pressed. It started while I was working a few days ago and now I’m testing it on M mode with no film in. Many different lenses and many different backs and many different batteries, always the same weird error. Any ideas ?
@stefanomatarangas46205 жыл бұрын
Hey Julio! I recently just got my RZ67 Pro and everything seems to work while on Emergency Mode. With the camera on the shutter won’t fire, I’ve tried everything in this video (the dark slide is out, with multiple film backs and no film back, the lens red ring isn’t showing, its not on timed exposure, I’ve tried multiple new batteries, etc.) but nothing works. At this point I’m worried it’s something wrong with the electrical components of the camera and don’t know if I should return it to get a new camera or send it to be serviced. Do you know anything else I can try or what I should do?
@RyuuzakiJulio5 жыл бұрын
Multiple new batteries? Which batteries are you using? Some are very cheap and don't hold the charge that long, some other batteries are like 20 dlls per 1, and that works better. Did you used ANY of the 20 dlls one? Can you confirm the voltage charge of them, even if they are new, if they have been on the shelf for a long time, they might be already weak even if they are new.
@stefanomatarangas46205 жыл бұрын
@@RyuuzakiJulio Hey Julio thanks for replying! I've used Varta (4SR440) and Duracell (28L) batteries. I don't know if I have used the 20 dlls batteries. I can definitely try out some new batteries if you have any to recommend! Thanks!
@RyuuzakiJulio5 жыл бұрын
@@stefanomatarangas4620 I think that Varta one is the Silver Oxide one, which is the most recommended one, get a cheap 10 dlls multimeter so you can check the battery level and make sure they are giving you the 6v.

I’m having an issue with my advance lever on the body. It advances and releases the shutter perfectly with no back. Once the back is on loaded with film, the lever only goes down with a lot of resistance and makes a very weird crunching noise. Sounds like it’s being forced. I brought it to a shop that lubricted the lever to make it go down smoothly. After this, I still have this issue. Does anyone know what it could be? The body? The back? Please help! I’m so confused

Dorian Stern try putting a battery and film on a back.
@dorianstern98537 жыл бұрын
I'm picking up a battery tomorrow. The film back is already on. Playing around with it now and the lever cranks regardless of what shutter option its on (orange dot or white) and regardless of what mode its on (M, R, or middle). When i try to crank it with the middle option set, the mirror goes into place but when i click the shutter button the mirror doesn't go back up or do the motion that it should. Basically a crank and then no action when I click the shutter. I really hope this is just a battery thing. I watched a previous video of yours where you were testing the shutter with no lens on it. And your shutter worked fine.

Shutter is on normal mode, not multiple exposure, battery is fine, lens is showing the N - and no red circle around. I hit the shutter, mirror locks up and it won’t let me crank the lever until i press the shutter again (which then just makes a faint click sound) which then gets the mirror back down. Argh!

Hi thank you for your comment. I see you did most of checks, sadly if non of this checks has worked. It could be that the moving parts have some dirty or dried oil, so might need some checkup maintenance to keep it on good performance. The cameras usually have to be sent for a checkup every since and when, so this probably has never been checked up. Is it something new? Or did you had this issue since the beginning? How about a different lens?

I would say is not a big deal. I’ve had those issues as well. But it’s just about poor maintenance from my part. So I know the stress. On shoots, battery has died without me having a replacement, lens not connected properly, manual winding not all the way down, loose trigger sync cable, you name it, I’ve had it. The only time I have sent for repair is when the knob was clicking while focusing, for sure was an inner gear problem, got it fixed for 180 dlls.
