RZR Turbo R Build Overview

After having owned 4 RZR Turbo/Turbo S’s over several years, Royce decided to build up a 2022 Polaris RZR Turbo R Sport 4 Seater. We go over all of his parts, upgrades, accessories, and customizations. We do a good amount of technical rock-crawling, but also like to keep the machine well rounded so that they can be used for family rides, camping trips, and sand dune trips.

Larue racing got 802hp to the rear wheels thats insane. And it holds up well. That thing stand up for blocks. Really it would flip if they didnt let off. Pretty cool , i definitely like there set ups.

So you have SSS skid plate listed on your build list but in the video, but at the 9:35 mark, I'm very confident that is the factory skid. If I'm wrong, please share how you got the skid to hug the frame so well. I ask as I am installing my SSS premium skid on my 2024 Turbo R and there is a hell of a bow in it due to the steel plate under the trans. I'm having to space the SSS skid down about an inch in the rear due to excessive bowing.

You’ll have to put a spacer behind the strike latch (what I did) or trim the door

Very nice car. Are you happy with Bikeman’s kit. Do you feel that it is reliable power. I’m looking at doing my pro r. Just don’t want to give up reliability.

So far so good. I am still trying to find exactly how I want the clutching. The muffler is loud but sounds and looks great

Remove the brackets and trim the plastic flush where the old exhaust cover was. Looks real clean that way.

Yes, EVA foam roll. Purchase on Amazon or eBay. Just measure your roof and get the appropriate amount. It’s peel and stick

Did you put a switch pro in your car? If so the 8 or 12 switch and where did you mount the brain on the 4 seater?

When y'all install the viper shifter did y'all have to adjust the cable ? I install mine but when I put it on high to drive it won't take off cause the shifter is hitting the end like it's not cut enough and the only way is unscrewing the plate and move it back so the shifter can go further down to drive

Yes, you have to adjust it. It is adjusted in the back on the transmission. It’s very quick and easy

The 4x4 on the Polaris performs great. 35s stock gears does fine (turbo R only… the pro xp and Turbo s or Xp Turbo would need gears)

Why a turbo R vs Pro R? Looking into to swap from my X3 but dont know which. Personally hate the pro R sound but will i regret not spending the extra $. What made your decision.

The extra length, for where I ride, was a deterrent. Suspension is essentially the same on both models, but power above about 50 mph is better on the Pro R

Hey Royce. Thinking of 37" Roxzillas on my Turbo R as soon as better 17" wheel choices emerge. Do you think stock gearing is adequate?

I just did 37s and a gear reduction and that’s what I’d recommend, especially for high gear

@OffCamberInd Nice. When do we get to see the 37" setup? Also, I'm curious about your gear reduction. Did you do high and low? How much? Quick math tells me the circumference of a 37" tire is about 16% more than the stock 32. I'm thinking 13% low and 25% high would be about right.

Did you mean to say stock? If so yes you can, but you won’t get all the possible gains usually

No front, but rear is disconnected a lot of the time, but not removed in case I want it on for high speed

I have an older MTX head unit and it has to load my playlist every time I connect and it takes forever. Can’t do anything on the unit until it finishes. Does the newer deck do the same thing

I don’t know anything about playlist issues, I have just used Spotify streaming and i haven’t had any Bluetooth connection complaints

Yeah the trailing arms are terrible. Like you, that’s my only real complaint. I’ve heard ORB has an option coming out early 2023. I’ll be curious to see what they bring.

As a long time polaris owner, I get those about once a year. I make sure and have a good fire extinguisher and a good insurance policy and let er rip!

The switch panel has 8 buttons and each one has its it own fuse behind the dash. Searching “switch pros” on KZbin would get you some close up videos of the concept

How many modes would it take to get the rzr turbo r 4 to 225hp?

This one in the video is somewhere between 200 and 225 hp. It’s got a Bikeman stage 3 kit (tune, clutching, exhaust, charge tube, etc). It also weighs a little less than a pro r, so they’re probably comparable (talking about a stock horsepower Pro R) when it comes to HP per lb The Pro R is this video is over 300 hp, and the weight of the 2 seater vs 4 make a big difference
