My first was Ceremony of Opposites and I still have the CD in my car, I have rebought it a few times because I had only Tapes of it back in the days, all legally bought :-) If this CD dies one day because of scratches I hope I can buy it again.

Back in the 90s, when Ceremony of Opposites came out, me and a buddy listened to it all day long on a school trip. Annoyed the hell out of our classmates who were more into hip hop! 😄

Awesome show!! This was my first black metal album and man I played that cassette until it stopped working. I still have the CD and play it often. In 2010 I got to see them in San Francisco at Slims,such a badass show.

It is clear to me that Samael pulled black metal far away from its tradicional boundary.Undeniable what they did in terms of advancement and transformation on black metal shaping is quite impressive.They were extremely courageous to roll out on the revolutionary direction without wondering about being crucified by empty labels.There's no doubt that Samael does not priority any kind labels,but itself music and artistic concept are always above all.

Przy tej płycie, to jeden z najlepszych basistów jakich słyszałem. Podobnie ma się sytuacja z basem z płyty Individual Thought Patterns kapeli DEATH. Panowie mistrzowie. Nie jadą po rytmie gitar. Robią swoją muzę.

Ja vi banda tocar sem baixista, até sem vocalista. Mas sem baterista é a primeira vez. E ja vi bandas fazerem cover e destruirem musica dos outros. Mas é a primeira vez que vejo uma banda destruir as proprias musicas. Especialmente em se tratando de uma obra-prima como é o caso do ceremony of opposites. Triste demais!!!!

Would have been nice if they dropped a song or two from their first couple albums when I saw them in 2008 with Amorphis. All I got was the crap material from later albums. It was a complete snoozfest, even more boring than Katatonia live. But Amorphis more than made up for it, as they were amazing.
