The Special Air Service (SAS) is a special forces corps of the British Army. It has served as a model for the special forces of other countries. The SAS forms a significant section of United Kingdom Special Forces alongside the Special Boat Service (SBS), Special Reconnaissance Regiment (SRR), and the Special Forces Support Group (SFSG). The Special Boat Service or SBS is the special forces unit of the British Naval Service. Their motto is "By Strength and Guile". It forms part of the United Kingdom Special Forces (UKSF) group.

I was lucky enough to be attached to UKSF ( mainly SBS) for 6 years & did some unbelievable training with them....Its tough but such an achievement.....recently Med discharged.... miss it big time..what a cracking bunch of lads !!!

I'm American and I understand how bad ass the SAS are. Who care which force is better (Canada, US, UK ect.) They all have gone through intense training and should all be treated with fair amount of respect for putting their life on the line.

The arguments about which country has the best special forces after these types of videos are so brilliant. I'm British, so I would say SBS and SAS. Any American would say SEALs and Delta are the best. Pretty much no one really knows what tier 1 SF do, apart from that they are pretty much always deployed somewhere at any time. But I agree with the ExecutionerThe, I would have British SF with me any day.

Australian civil engineer Lance de Mole invented the tank in 1912. It was rejected by the British war office in 1912 1914 and again in 1916. He was finally recognised and compensated for his work as the inventor and pioneer of the mark 1 tank by the British Royal Commission on Awards to Inventors.

SAS do CT and Hostage Rescue, on top of 'general missions' - because Britain only really has them and the SBS to conduct special operations, they do everything the top US SOF do. Delta and NSWDG are primarily counter-terrorism, which includes hostage rescue. The SEALs are more of a general SO unit, that conduct a range of missions that includes some CT and hostage rescue as well.

I agree. Their military really is superb, and I've enjoyed every time I've gotten to cross-train with them. The problem is that Brits on KZbin can't just be satisfied that they have a great military. They feel that they have to have the best military, and will insult and bash anyone who doesn't agree. I'm just glad we're all allies here. The US & UK special forces & conventional forces have worked great together, as can be seen on many KZbin videos.

The SBS were first to create E&RE (exiting and re entering a submarine). years later after many attempts + deaths the USA gave up and asked for SBS help. Even today some American Spec members come to the UK to be trained.The SBS also pioneered how to enter a oil platform. the SAS created the four man squad and with this how to storm buildings and such within a four man squad, this i believe was also taught to the USA's Special Forces. Both the UK and America are close and share most things :)

I would agre with you. The success of the Green Berets & SEALs who were part of MACV-SOG are hands down the most successful special operations ever undertaken. Literally, they had over 100:1 K:D ratios, and spent weeks at a time behind enemy lines, snatching prisoners, conducting BDA, executing ambushes, conducting recon, and rescuing POW's. The SAS & SBS are hands down among the best in the world today, but there is no single "Best" anymore. That slot is filled by many.

Join british army, after a few years you can be entered depending if they think you have a chance, though you pretty much have to be able to run a marathon a day, with a full pack, over mountains. Hard is an understatement. Apparently going into brigade recon force, or the pathfinders is a good first step.

im 15 as well, i do karate for a few hours a week (nearly black belt, been doing it for 8 years) and i push weights quit often, although i havent been down to the careers office yet, im a good distance runner as well, but i havent been swimming in ages though, but i can swim easily though

Actually most of the warhead design was carried out in the US and most of the warhead components are of American manufacture. "The National Audit Office noted that most of the warhead development and production expenditure was incurred in the US. The US President authorised the transfer of nuclear warhead components to the UK between 1991 and 1996."
