Just purchased a 2018 mega cab 6.7L and I’m amazed living south of Tucson the difficulty in finding Diesel pumps. I’m finding many stations have no pumps at all or a single pump that is a nightmare to get to especially when pulling a trailer. This tank replacement looks like it is very doable in my garage and it would greatly increase my range. Kit seems to be well thought out with all possible modifications or extra parts anticipated. I gotta get one of these. You really don’t need a lift I pull my tank with Jack stands under the frame just until the tires are almost off the ground. Then there’s plenty of room to roll around and put 2 floor jacks under the tank to support it.

What is the top brass fitting for that's near the filler hole? Is it an input for a transfer tank or something? I'm pretty sure it shouldn't just get left open with installing the tank like shown at 7:20

How much fuel can you actually get into these? Looks like a ton of places for air to get trapped, preventing a complete fill.

Ezlynk 2.0 with Auto agent allows you to change fuel tank size from stock to 52 gallons so your drive to empty will be roughly correct after installing this tank.

Are you sure that this is offered for the Ram diesel trucks, Sir? We installed a S&B 52 gal in Fall of 2020 and the company didn't have anything available at that time. If this has changed, I will reconnect with them..

@@eddys.9220 it is available from ezylynk 2.0. I used it to update mine in February to 52 gallons from the stock tank. You have to go into the settings to do it.

@@johnnybags87 Sir, I did exactly what you recommended today. EZ Lynk allowed me to change the fuel tank size & all 4 wheel psi as well. Short drive after, the electronic fuel updated. Stopped to fillup the 52 gal tank & both electronic & fuel needle reverted to their original setting. Going to try to disconnect the batteries next & hopefully that will reset everything when I restart.

The largest PITA with these tanks is the fuel sending unit will never read true, and the fuel light comes on with 10-15 gallons left, which prevents remote start on OEM remote starters. Just food for thought.

The fuel gauge will remain accurate besides staying on F for longer. The DTE will still be calculating based on the stock tank size and can't be adjusted.

AlphaOBD can be used to reprogram it, but you cannot go over 194 liters, as the system will not recognize the input and will reject it even if it accepts it on the screen. It works for trucks '20 and older I know for a fact.

The gauge will still work. We don't have a way to calibrate the bigger fuel tank size for the distance to empty to be accurate for the Rams crurently

I’ve tried alfaobd and every time i try to change it to 52 gallons the needle goes to 3/4 of a tank and range stays the same. Now changing the size below factory 26 gallons it lowers my range.

@@SCLaughter you cannot go past 194 liters, the system will not read past that. Im not sure what you all are doing but I did this to a 2012, 2013, and also my 2018 truck with AlphaOBD. I did not use EZLynk for anything.

$1100 for tank, $200-300 for labor/installations to get 20 extra gallons.... I got 20+17+ 16+21+10 extra gallons tank capacity when I need it. HITCH TANK 20+17, 16gallons boat tank in truck bed, 21 gallons plastic flatter boat tank on roof of camper shell in basket & 2-5 gallon tanks. Total capacity 32+20+17+16+21+10=116gallons.... vs. $1350 tank. I paid $200 for the hitch tank, $15 for the boat tank in truck, $20 for roof/camper shell & $15 for the 2-5gallon plastic tanks... $250 for double the capacity...
