+Rocket Ship 27 Sorry, but no. The stage number in Dirt Rally is only big because they're re-using the same map for different stages (reverse, short 1, short 1 reverse etc.). For example, Monte Carlo has 12 stages on 1 1/2 unique locations (1/2 because it's the same map with 1 route change halfway through). For comparison, Monte Carlo in Loeb: 8 stages on 4 unique locations.

+Shizuku Mizutani well format for Dirt rally is: each country has 2 long stages, basically that`s it, then they are split in pieces and reversed. It is really frustrating to do 12stages of rally especially when you do one stage forward, rewerse, then the same stage only long version.. takes off all the feel.. if i am not mistaken some real rally events have 8-10stages (different) with total 70-80km to drive (dirt has around 20km per location :( for me this is the major downer..) Even RBR had more to drive (max 1-2 stages in reverse)

In Nvidia card if you set adaptive Vsync on Nvidia panel it works way better. Smooth and no stutter at 60 fps. 970gtx here. To reduce input lag, turn off by the game center option on the thrustmaster wheel control and set to 0%. Works nice on T500.

Amazing on ps4, the handling is spot on even though it doesn't look or sound as good as dirt it's still really enjoyable to play. There are defiantly some issues and bugs that need addressing, I just hope they are fixed in upcoming patches. I'll still be buying dirt come April but this is still a great effort my milestone.....at least on ps4.

Really great review guys - feels like you've really researched this title before giving your thoughts, the funny thing is that an imperfect game actually makes a more enjoyable KZbin review! Lack of controller inputs for the PC version means I won't be buying this - so I hope there's a clear message to the developers here to take the individual platforms more seriously.

Nice to see an SLRE review that is pretty much spot on. Especially the fact that the physics and the FFB were shown as the first "pro" of the title. Kind of cringed where you mentioned DR's tarmac physics at all, since it's just awful. SLRE can beat that title on all the surfaces. And you mentioned it yourself, the surfaces transitions are very nicely done. Realistic bots are slow? Sorry, guys, but judging by the clips you provided I have serious doubts about that. Yes, they can be quite slow, especially at Monte Carlo, but at least they blow the DR ones out of the water and generally are competitive enough (in quick rallies). The co-driver is kind of ok if you don't trust him too much. Yes, most of the points you mentioned about the guy are true, but do you seriously consider DR's co-driver to be any better? Or the RBR one for that matter. Not sure why you are having that much input lag. Have you tried using fixes for that? I'd think it would be impossible to drive from the cockpit cam in the first place when your controller and the virtual wheel are out of sync completely. The dash cam is miles better.

The constant stutter while the fps were in the 90s was insane in the demo. I've seen fanboys from day one claiming it was fixed in the full release, but I guess they were lying to make "their" game look better or using the old "works on my machine" card, big surprise there.

There are 2 settings on Vsync... for my copy on Steam it works locked on 60fps on 32" 1080p 980Ti GPU

Got to feel sorry for these guys, playing on triple-surround-screen-force-feedback-racing-chair-steering-wheel-pedal-gear-combo at 80fps and 'not getting more than 1080p graphics - aboohoo!' A far cry from the halcyon days of everyone in the room having to physically freeze while your C64 tape tried to load 'Pole Position' for 15 minutes on a CRT tv which weighed as much as a dump truck, only to fail to boot because someone sneezed.

+KY Tactical Yes, they've affirmed that many, many times over. T300 is the best bang for the buck for PS4 racing... but they've also added the caveat that the Clubsport V2 is the absolute money no object best, but so expensive that it doesn't make much sense to buy just for PS4 racing.

I'll have to agree with all of that but,. The sounds are not in my opinion"'poor" there just to low but I think well balanced when your in traffic you can still hear what you engine is doing. Oh and there is a head to head mode where you can rally stage together against the A.I.you guys probably played it but in truth it isn't worth it because as they said the A.I. in most of the rally stages is weak however it kind of makes up for that because the Loeb experience mode is rather difficult in my opinion and like they said some of the rally cross posed a challenge. The main and most important thing about this game is at least on the ps4 it drives so good one of the best out there in my opinion.

Ok played for a bit 1. its not a full simulation like Dirt Rally which means its more fun to play for rally fans, even for me as someone who loves Dirt Rally and RBR. 2. Great selection of cars and tracks 3. Two issues. Dirt tracks feel flat, variety is not great. For example, Finland feels good the way it is, its usually flat rally and fast. on the other hand, lets say Australia should be bumpier and so on, you get the point. 4. In car view doesnt give you the feel of the car moving. Again comes down to bumps and head movement. Overall its a very fun simcade rally game. it reminds me of games such as Colin McRaee 2.0, Colin McRae 4 and 5

Nice review, but the input lag is not only graphical. I tested the XO-demo with a gamepad. Just making inputs and watching the tires I estimate about 300 ms till the tires responds. But I don´t now, if the last update (and maybe really the last) is fixing this. And Dirt Rally on tarmac is just awesome. Take an AWD-car like the Lancia Delta and put the differential middle and rear to full stiffness. I can drive like Loeb with this @Baumholder and killed the "AI" by a minute within the full stages in the masters:)

First of..i really like the Review Its all I wanted to say and it feels very honest review.Secondly I wanted to say from my XP in real life, that FW cars weight balance on dirt SS feels amazing on hard braking (without locking the wheels) the back of the car slides on the other side ... and if I go more on break and lock them the frond of the car goes straight , I really like that it feels like in real Life.BUT.... from my XP FW 106 rally car on dirt SS doesn't stop so fast ... the braking points must be way more back. I guess on Snow ( I don't know) it needs more space to . Overall the game its really good. But they need to fix some bugs.

But on Gravel and Snow it feels like it stops to strong. 3 Days ago I was doing a gravel point to point in Real Life Nissan Micra SS and I got the same feeling the car doesn't stop so fast ... and don't forget its a 800kg car with the roll cage.

Thanks for saving me $50. I tried the demo and that was a disaster. With a 900 degrees wheel it was like the on screen wheel was having an epileptic seizure and the driving was terrible. But I heard the actual game is better. Not good enough. Milestone will not patch this game on the PC. They never did before, they won;t do it now. They just don't care.

+WildMenInAction Yeah and it takes some laziness to assume everything in your native language (I don't mean _you_). It sucks when hosts do it in a televised sports game, like a football match, and it sucks when a sim page doesn't know the single best rally driver's name. At any rate perhaps I'm sensitive to it only because we even have a designated character for that sound (*Ő* in Hungarian). Somehow in a football match here, the hosts pronounce English names English, French ones French, not "Hungarianized" (like "lobe" is English here).
