In the sixth episode of our new deer management series with Chris Rogers on Shooting & Country TV, Chris is out on a piece of ground in Norfolk where he helps manage the booming Chinese Water Deer population.
The Norfolk Broads offer the ideal environment for these small, interesting deer, being similar to their native habitat - the wetlands of China and Korea. The landscape Chris is stalking across is flat, bare, and surrounded by huge reed beds that the deer lay-up in.
Usually, it's a simple task, especially since there are so many of the deer living there... this time, our filming trip coincided with Storm Barra and the Chinese Water Deer rut, making the task a LOT trickier.
The deer won't stay still, and the weather worsens as the stalk wears on... join us on our soggy adventure in this month's episode!
