It still is. Despite the improvements, this one captures the intensity, insanity and urgent nature of the entire story and moment. Up until that point, we mostly only saw it in a point by point narration. This one catapulted us into the universe and made us finally realize the dangers in playing Sburbs.

I always get chills at 2:32. The music picks up, Jaspersprite saves Rose from falling, and everything starts to get more intense. I had the widest smile on my face just as Rose was looking up to see that Jaspersprite saved her.

Descend is still my favourite, but this one is awesome too. Honestly, the Homestuck flashes may get more advanced as the story moves on, but I think they each capture the mood of their particular part of the plot just fine.

Okay so. I'd like to remark on the fact that when Rose jumped, she didn't know that Jaspersprite was functional yet. So she basically jumped over the edge of a waterfall trusting that Dave [or something else] would be able to catch her. On the outside, Rose may seem aloof to some, but I believe that shows a surprising amount of trust in Dave/Jaspers.

Sawtooth and Squarewave are apparently from a thing Hussie did before Homestuck called "And it Don't Stop". When you're looking through John's CD rack in Act 1 there is an "AiDS" disc (page number 001931, really early, 16/04/09) I don't know when he did it. Possibly before MSPA. It could be looked up, I guess.

:/ I had always assumed the constant 413 references at every opportunity were based on John's birthday, mentioned on the first page. That's what I first saw the number as, and assumed Hussie had originally started planting that number everywhere he could to branch off of it. 413 is everywhere in the series... because it's the day all of it started.

I used to think Homestuck was just some funny web comic. Then I found WV: Ascend and realized there was a plot. When I watched this one I got hooked to Homestuck. Cascade is amazing, but this is good on its own.

It shows up when rose first goes to the labs and the hub she uses is 413. It may even show up before that. But the instance in the lab before this flash is more obvious than anything hussie may have thrown in before that.

Roxy and Rose are mother/daughters Jade and Jake and John and Jane are grandparent/grandchildren. if you are far enough to be at the alphas all of this should be painstakingly obvious.

HA,But seriously,''[S]John:Play haunting piano refrain" wasn't the TRUE first Flash,that would go to the Problem Sleuth title screen,plus that flash didn't improve anything in animation.Before WV:Ascend,not much flashes improved in motion or epicness of that of right now,Examples:ALL 4/13 flashes,ALL ending flashes, and some that are so awesome they can beat ANY 4/13 flash[a.k.a. Cascade].
