I just wish theyd do another reissue with a better paint pass and tighter joints. I def overpaid for mine but the sculpt and articulation are still the best, and as someone who does modeling and customizing I can fix especially bad paint flubs and loose joints.

if you guys want to fix that problem with the no red color in the cracks of the skin. if your brave enough get red paint and paint em where red is supposed to be and then dry brush black over it all and then some dark grey and then try your best trying to pain the non painted spikes.

Its a SHaMe that the paint is that terrible, considering the sculptor of the figure is Yuji Sakai, one of the best Godzilla sculptors out there. Its honestly one of (if not) the best sculpted SHAMS out there. They used red plastic covered with "semi transluscent" black paint the entire figure to give the radiating red effect (which fails miserably), unlike most SHAMS which uses dark grey plastic with a touch of weathering. That kinda explains why its easily chipped.

I had no idea they went about trying something new with the paint this go around. But like, you saw it fail the first time... why repeat? why not, try something NEW for the reissue, something that could've translated better? What a shame Sakai's work went underutilized with this thing.

With the recent ‘89 release I’m a little more hopeful with the future of MonsterArts quality control. I’m genuinely excited for Godzilla Ultima because of Bio Goji.

'89 turned out way better than I thought it would, the teeth can be a little spotty, but I'll take that over whats happened in the past. Hopefully, Ultima will be just as lovely and will further convince me to take the ticket with SHMA once again!

I have the S.H.MonsterArts Shin Godzilla, plus the Fourth Awakening version too, and I still love them both even if the regular doesn't have much red (technically they're in a crimson red and are visible in my copy, plus it is accurate in some shot when there isn't so much red on). But I do understand and reason your opinion since it's an 100 dollar or more figure (which the price is mostly on scale, joints and use of plastic, which they skipped a lot of paint in some copies). And honestly I too say that the NECA version has better paint aps than SHMA. However it is an 2016 figure after all, and seeing the latest stuff that came up and are coming up have somewhat improved (not an 100% but it's close) with the SHMA Monster Hunter figures, and other Godzilla related figures that are revealed. Well that's enough I have to say about that, plus love this review and keep doing some great work man.

You should be fine! The only issues I've seen for GvK Goji is just the head sometimes being squished and the mouth being a BIT messy, over-all I think you're safe!

Awesome video! I have bought several S.H. Monsterarts figures and they have been a huge let down and seems like they are getting worst every year. Had Kong fell apart on me when just I unpackaged him, he cant stand on his own. Have to say I may get rid of them and upgrading to X-plus and other figures since Im a lot happier with them. Shin is a fave Godzilla design, but it kinda looks ass in the SHF format, (paint aside) the articulation kills the look. Where's that gorgeous Marmit you've got? - that's a beauty. On a side note, enhancing the paint on Shin Godzilla (any Shin Godzilla, not just SHF) with some red washes is crazy easy.

the only good thing about bad paint, is that if you learn how to paint you can fix it yourself. having said that, it is not an excuse for Bandai releasing it in the state that it is, its not a 25 to 30 dollar figure but a 170 dollar one, their is an expectation to the quality of it, and one if having good paint. heck the reason i went to neca for the king of the monsters figures was because of lack of paint, bad joint tolerance and bad detail.

I didnt know you had the NECA Shin in your collection. You know the spitfire NECA is cool, my only nit picks about is one they didnt make more beams like in the movie, theres not another head than the open virginia mouth one and three they used WAYYY too much white paint on the spines.
