I was in Korea when the Sewol ferry tragedy took place and I have seen how the entire country went into a state of mourning for not a few days but weeks and months. No major festivals celebrated no big gatherings for quite sometime! I have never seen anything like that ever before in my entire life! Infact even sales dropped significantly across several commodities. It felt like all the Koreans would carry that misery to their graves! The country is very sensitive to incidents like these! Be strong Korea! May the lost souls Rest in Peace and my heartfelt condolences to their familes!

Peace to those families affected, your flowers will always remain in our hearts. As they rest- take time to acknowledge the joy you spent together, as we pray for you here in the United Kingdom. For those who need it, here are some tips to stay safe or atleast find safety in a crowded area: 1. *LISTEN* to the crowd (and your instincts). If you hear someone yelling or hear anyone complaining of tightness or breathlessness, its a sign to turn back or begin looking for the quickest exit. 2. Try to raise your hands so they do not get stuck by your side. If you can, place your arms in front of your chest to maintain a breathing zone. a backpack can be used to shift in front of your body as well to keep your breathing. 3. Maintain a fighting foot stance. Its better to *MOVE* with the crowd than push against it. 4. *HELP* one another! If someone falls, it can create a dangerous situation. a domino effect can occur if one person takes a misstep so, if you can, help someone up the best you can. 5 if you drop something *LEAVE IT*. bending down in a crowded area is NOT a good idea as it is unlikely that you would get back up. 6. *CONSERVE* your energy. yelling/shouting is a waste of energy if you are in a dangerous position in a crowd. keep calm & raise your head up for maximum air. 7. If you fall, get into the fetal position as fast as you can on your LEFT side and cover your head. you're most vulnerable on your back/stomach. 8. *SITUATIONAL AWARENESS IS KEY*. know where the exits are. no matter where you are. In case of an emergency, that knowledge can save your life. Sometimes the conventional (most obvious) exit isn't the best because everyone will want to use it in the event of an crowd surge or emergency. know ALL exits and use the closest or less polluted one. and finally 9. if you find yourself in a crowded area, your best chance may be to move *DIAGONALLY* so that you aren't moving against the crowd but moving toward the edge of it. I read the above tips a while ago from an article on The Washington Post and thought to share it. I didn't know a few of them like #9, so to those who need it, here you go! please share! stay safe out there! RIP to those souls who lost their life. #ItaewonStrong

The Itaewon crush is just as frustrating as the Sewol tragedy was. Based on videos circulating online, there clearly was hardly any crowd control effort done by the police. The police that tried to control the crowd didn't even have a loudspeaker on hand. Another thing to note is that the majority of the victims of the crush (95 out of the 155 now are in their 20s) are the same generation as the majority of the victims of the Sewol tragedy.
@micaylacatherine20792 жыл бұрын
@@jdvierra I know, which makes this even more heartbreaking. Another thing to note is that halloween in Itaewon has always been a pretty huge gathering. In fact, the crowd of this weekend was not the biggest crowd they’ve ever had, it has even been over 200k people before. But because of the poor poor poor crowd management, it resulted in this tragedy. Honestly I can’t fathom the fear and panic those people must’ve experienced. I put blame on officials. They knew it was a big event. First time after covid. Honestly what were they expecting? And so the same generation experiences another horrible tragedy😔

@@Ohm_Gulf_Gang itaewon is small, so there isn’t a lot of space for that amount of people but it was actually just because of poor crowd control and management. It’s not like it was an unplanned event, halloween in itaewon is always a big thing but this year there was poor planning to ensure the safety of people there from police and officials. There’s been bigger crowds before, this one was about 100k but there was even 200k+ previously that didn’t end like this because there was plans and security
