By the time these come to market they have thoroughly been combed over, that is of course unless you happen to live in the wild in Russia and have a metal detector, thats where all these come from. After all the years in the ground being hard packed the explosive charge in the middle resembles one of those cans of instant juice you keep frozen in your refrigerator, a few years ago there was a video on youtube of some guys in Russia disarming these things and they put that solid hunk of TNT out of one of these in the 'Y' of this big tree and detonated it, it was impressive to say the least.

The best I can do for you is as I said which is the 1.5x. There is too much material to go over for shorter videos. KZbin caters to short attention spans and unfortunately alot of people reduce the technical details on how things work just to keep it shorter. Enough videos out there doing that. Mine provide more detail on things people dont usually find info on. Sure it doesnt make everyone want to sub but it does get the info to people who want to take the time to learn about the stuff.

This is one of the nastiest mines ever made . I use to play paintball & a friend of mind made some bouncing betty homemade mines using 3 co2 cartage’s & they worked great they jumped up like 3 feet & would spray balls very hard everywhere . I got toasted by one had pink paint all over me , he bought regular mines you just set in the ground too steped on one of thos too it blew paint up the back of my shirt once I stepped off of it we had RPGs paintball guns that would spray a paintball grenade out of it a few guys on are team had Rainmakers it was like a Gatling gun just nasty . We use to play on my friends land it was huge it had a old apartment complex on it & a lot of woods . We play over a course of the weekend a full 72 hours around the clock if you got killed once you were out for the rest of the weekend & had to ref the rest of the game we all took turns there was like 300 people that would play a from around the country . These mines were bad for moral during WW2, designed to mutilate rather than kill, allied soldiers hated them because they detonated at about the same height off the ground as the average standing man's nutsack. It is likely that they deprived a lot of men of fatherhood after the war. In the book Monte Casino, ten armies in hell the author writes 'The dreaded S-mine was even more frightening, about the size of a tin can and called the Bouncing Betty by the Americans (more accurately called the 'de-bollocker' by the British'.) and then goes on to describe them in use.

@@Stray03 Yes a very unpleasant surprise. I remember reading somewhere that when deployed that the pressure prongs could be (trip) wired together in such a way as to produce a chain reaction with several mines detonating in sequence. That would certainly be a surprise that nobody would want a repeat of. It is an interesting piece of history that you have there.

The model for the M-16 Bouncing Betty antipersonnel mine. Did the Germans also inspire the M-21 antitank mine as well?
@Stray03
@Stray03 5 жыл бұрын
Not sure but from what I read the fuze uses a belleville spring much like the m14 mine. There is a black powder charge but it is to clear the dirt and top off the mine for the main charge to do its job because of the way it is made it needs to be clear to ensure full penetration.

Hey i was wondering,on one of the fuzes for these where would be a good place to find the 2 little ball bearings that hold the plunger,i bought a fuze like yours a few years back that was really corroded and i cleaned it up and all that but i must have misplaced the bearings or it had been monkeyed with before and they were not present when i got it, thank you much for your time, Ive been subscribed for a long time, love your videos man, fellow ordnance man here,love that old stuff!!

@@Stray03 Thank you so much for the reply but i was actually asking where could someone find replacements,sorry i wasn't much clearer, after i asked you that question i ended up buying a kit of metric ball bearings,im confident they will have the bearings i need,they have them from itty bitty ones to real big ones, pretty nice little kit.

@@Stray03 Thanks for the reply, yeah like i was saying i ended up buying a nice little kit that comes with all kinds of ball bearings and i found that 3 mm bearing fit in that hole but if you dont have the plunger spring in there they fall thru and if you try 3.5 mm they dont fit,lol,thats very strange because when it come to mm thats how it works,2/2.5/3/3.5 and so forth, i mean the fuze works great now but i cant just put the little balls in there like you do,i have to have the plunger spring in there to keep them in place, the Germans must have had a bastard size ball bearing in there and the hole has some kind of chamfer so the little balls dont fall thru?
@Stray03
@Stray03 3 жыл бұрын
@@dntlss they will fall through which is why I keep them sideways. a good trick I learned in my job is to put some petroleum jelly on the bearings so they stick a bit more and won't fall out while trying to install striker. They must have used a special jig to install the stuff easier.
