One of my absolute favorite flute sonatas. I actually saw him when I first moved to Boston in 2000. He performed this piece.

This is one of my favorite sonatas. (As a flutist, I say it's quite complicated) So many emotions, feelings, experiences in this work, Emmanuel Pahud was able to convey all these subtleties. She will always stay in my heart ❤ Parts: 1. 0:00 2. 8:02 3. 13:04 4. 16:37

I think nobody really knows how exhausting it is to play this piece, especially the 4th movement, as a flute player you are really outta breath all the time, it's more exhausting than 10 min of a workout 🤪

Yes! The allegro was my last jury junior year. I was not a performance major and only had a 1 unit lesson, so only a 10-minute jury where the expectations were low. When I finished the piece they were just like ... ok we're going to skip the scales and etude thanks for coming.

I know! The flutist I worked with on this piece in college struggled in a few spots. She was good, but some spots were difficult to catch a breath.

when Pahud recorded this CD was only 22! I notice he played differently than now. I prefer this 'old' style.

@@arnoberthelin6283 From France came out my preferred flutists: Rampal, Larrieu, Marion...I love Larrieu style, so refined so classic! I'm italian....

@@stefanocontiflutechannel6812 Your english better than mine :) yeah all great i Saw Rampal in 1996 before he died, with other flûtists don't remember all. But since 20 years, i play Jazz and impro, so i listen more Hubert Laws, Roland Kirk or Magic Malik (last is french, but jazz) 🙂

I dont fix a period i'm lovin all Pahud but i understand your point. I have seen Rampal in 1996, sometimes french style boring me...he took his way, now i stop classical music 20 y ago, i'm lovin more jazz. Better or not better, all is fine btw for me :) (sorry for my english, i'm french :p)
