If the developers go all their way to replace the models to the human ones in this particular event, it will be a big deal, it will actually mean something.

I always thought it was odd that every single stalker in the zone (even Monolith) would consent to carrying a PDA with them at all times that would let other stalkers know when they were around. I mean it makes sense as an excuse for gameplay mechanics. Maybe Sidorovich has a gang wandering around the zone punishing stalkers who don't use his PDA system lol
@anomalousdugout95572 жыл бұрын
Yes it's kinda weird, that's why I would like to have more info about the PDA system. One other thing is that all the money in the Zone seems to be dematerialized and traded via PDAs.
@LewisB32172 жыл бұрын
Could just turn the PDA off, lol
@ocwpzw2 жыл бұрын
Some stalkers don't carry a pda. There were some mentioning about oldschool stalkers taking notes of their discoveries and stash locations on paper. Others, newly arrived in the zone, all go through rookie village, so it's natural they work for sidorovich. As for the monolith, they are, again stalkers that were turned by the c-consiousness, so they already had a pda. Probably can be used by the cc for control over the numbers and location of their security forces. For the scientific and merc stalkers a pda would be a useful tool. They come to the zone from outside world, so it's nice to have at least some maps with marked locations and to know where your colleges are at. And of course the money, it seems to be digital, and processed by some payment function on the device. It makes sense, when you're sent to the middle of the zone for a contract to get your money transferred to you. Lastly, messages. You would probably want to know what's happening around when you are out there by yourself, military rides, bandit ambushes, mutant migration, emissions etc.

The traitor was at the exact location you show here and also there was Wolf's CORPSE and it layed in the fire barrel next to the traitor. I reloaded an old save before accepting the quest and went to the Army Warehouses and even then there was Wolf's corpse in the barrel. I don't know if this was some developer's intention or a bug or some old version only feature but its kinda interesting in my opinion. I can provide you some screenshots or video if you want :)

BIG THREAD ON WOLF, AND HIS TEAM : There is actually three quests to kill the two "traitors" and the master stalker who are at the same campfire than Wolf. They are given in Rostok by Snitch and Cordon by Sidorovich, Baldy for Smartass in Rostok too. They have always the same name, suggesting that they are actually unique characters. As Wolf is a more experienced Stalker, it is certain that he got contacts and friends within the zone, and certainly some feuds going on with his team. The wildest guess i'm gonna give is that Wolf and his team members if they are a team, are former Duty Stalkers, or former militaries. OR driven by a secret religion/monolith spies. Why ? - Snitch is a loner, but referenced as a Mercenary in the game files. So, he must be one, or should have been in the development. He wants Master dead, just for wearing an exoskeleton? This is not enough, even more coming from a strange stalker like Snitch. Either he does want revenge for some beef, or he has got himself the contract to kill Master from outside of the zone. - Master, a pretty good mechanic, even so the best in the Zone if we believe his stories. Why would ANYONE kill a talent of this kind in the zone? He is a too valuable man and got an Exoskeleton that he can entertain. He is definetely a terrifying Stalker - but stated to be deeply religious. Father Diodor being near him is weird to say the least. Plus, Master wanted to die, and the Zone couldn't give him the death he wanted. Plus, Master finally rejoins Skull and his team if you bring down Liberty. - Sidorovich wanting a dead Stalker - given the military past affiliations of Sidorovich, it is not unlikely that he's got some beef with militaries, especially someone like Father Diodor that deteriorates the market of artifacts by preaching against it (and getting followers ;) ) - Father Diodor - a man ambushed by Mujahideens in the Afghanistan war. He came back a very religious man. He choosed to come in the Zone to preach and have gotten followers. He is like Duty and also the SSU - he does not want for a world full of artifacts and legitimately so fights against it with his religious teachings. - Smartass, for the last Stalker, is actually a thief. He stole artifacts from a previous hunt with Baldy, so this assassination is logical, though, Smartass is described as a "pretty decent fellow" and a student in physics that dropped in his senior year. - And finally, Wolf : He shows multiple time disdain for mercenaries, especially in Clear Sky but he might just not like Scar, or be an easy fella. The tough shit is there : if Wolf is friend with Diodor, he is also potentially recruiting young stalkers to join his "religion". Again, it's just a theory. He could also be recruiting in secret some rookies to make the ranks of Duty grow. Or nothing at all? Maybe. We all have pretty decent mens here that make for a good team : Father Diodor, charismatic leader. Ancient Military confirmed, religious, trained, armed, dangerous. One of the highest ranking of the zone. Master, incredible mechanic. Also one of the highest rankings, a decent mechanic, able to repair almost everything going by what he says. Wolf, master of survival in the zone, chief of the Rookie village, certainly one of the most famous stalkers and an expert of the Zone. Excellent teacher. Smartass, scientist in physics. Maybe not a warrior but he's got a huge-ass brain and physics knowledge which might be of use in the zone, especially for scientific equipment. They all have modified weapons and decent gear. Diodor even have a weapon powered by a gravi artifact. (Which is ironic, given his preaches, but this might be a smoke screen.) Master rejoins Skull and the duty members after the assault on freedom is done. Given that Wolf was called and took explosives, and that we took out the wall of Freedom by explosives, it hints that he was then called either by Diodor or Master. My guess is that Wolf, and his team, are former militaries, maybe of the first teams that came in the Zone. That's the safest guess possible given that they aid Duty but take no part in the raid. Hell, Wolf even mentions joining Freedom. Duty, even with great resources, would call on them to not awake any suspicions in the Liberty faction, by moving either their own troops or material, permitting them to quickly strike with the help of the Marked One the Freedom Base. Actually, Skull uses of the same tactic with Strelok by sending him killing the snipers, avoiding detection by sending in a loner. This is further advanced by the fact that their team all have special individual skills and advanced weaponery and armor, modified. It's also advanced by the fact that whatever you do to your playthrough : Wolf will always be there with THESE stalkers with an unique name. They have unique dialogue lines, and are all shady stalkers. Plus - they would have a pretty reason for each one to defect from official services like the Army. Wolf even seems to despise mercenaries and wants to join Freedom? This would make him the opposite of Diodor. A more silent, but wiser man that is fed up with how the military have treated them. They could also be secret duty members. It would make sense : Diodor recruiting by the religion process into the zone, Wolf going amidst the rookies, Master, with his technical abilities must be a trump card for many factions and/or groups/stalkers in the Zone, and Smartass being a scientific would hunt down artifacts, then use them with Master to modify weapons, giving Duty (and them) an enormous edge on the field. My last theory, the one that is not that sure, is that they are just kind of a "sect", a spiritual group of Stalkers, and Wolf, also Smartass, are just members of this faith. But this reminds us a little bit about another faction? The wild guess really here is that they could be part of the STALKER project but it seems it had started after Clear Sky, so, this wouldn't make sense. But they could be secret spies of the Monolith trying to convert new and old stalkers, preventing even more stalkers to reach the center of the zone and making they ranks grow again.

When revealed by a scanner, it would have resembled a constantly shifting black cloud with tentacles that reach out and mindscrew enemies. Most notably, the poor old lt. drops to his knees during in the evacuation and screams "It's here!", suddenly remembering what it was that terrified him so much. It is a shame that original "Stalker: Oblivion Lost" plot is obscure for foreigners since literature script from 2003 and it's novellisation "Дети Зоны" ("Children of The Zone") by now deceased Sergey Ivanov (R.I.P., legend) is available only in russian and even here is obscure. When you read it you kinda understand all the blank spots, inconsistencies and weird parts of final lore - it is basically Frankenstein of OG lore and random amount of work from couple of autors that work after Ivanov - but neither of them have the time and possibilities to reinvent cohesive Zone world due to the development hell after 2004, so it was born as a mutant, which is kinda ironic. The biggest point that OG lore did is highlighting whole world events and make stalkers look more like escapists than the golddiggers. It's lore heavily inspired by the chaotic and dark times of CIS 90s and kinda evolves from it. Also it is heavily dives into the psy-theme - posthuman, psyonic wars, zombified cities and all of that. Hopes up for OLR 3.0 for making it justice (it will finally move to 2003 script), although it will only cover the first part of novel - the second part about outside world remains only in novel. Some parts of it, like Muraveinik and Controller-Army will be cool to highlight in future parts of the Iceberg.

HEYYY!!! about the half-life there's a line from professor Sakharov before he tells tyou about town-32 and giving you the psi-helmet which he says that: "There was a major expedition on the western scientists there, who faced...let's say, SOME UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES"

This is just in the mod. This dialogue does not exist in the original game.

I'm only halfway through Clear Sky and who knows that fridge can come flying at your face later in the game lol. Also how did you know so much about Stalker? This is only the surface but I can't recognize any of the trivia (not that I'm a year one fan though). Well-done!

The flying fridge is in Call of Pripyat. I guess playing and making theories for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for almost 10 years is the reason I know all of this.

Many years ago I tried Stalker shadow of chernobyl and made it to the tunnel under the railroad. Unfortunately at the time i didnt learn to appriciate the game, and stopped there. i think it was anomalys killing me that made me stop lol. This year I felt the compelling urge to revisit stalker and experience the mysticism of the stalker universe. I am intriqued by it and have also tried the lost alpha version of SOC. I really like the setting and the atmosphere. Your videos adds additional depth as well which is nice. A good series of games which should be enjoyed by more gamers 👌

*In the next Iceberg can you talk about the origins of the mutants, especially the Bureaus and Controllers, my theory is that scientists have been experimenting with the psy emission trying to make humans with psy abilities, but who knows.* *I was waiting for this video a long time ago, thanks for making this up, appreciated it 👍*
@anomalousdugout95572 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! All the layers of the iceberg are already decided so I won't be able to talk about the origins of the mutants, however I already made a few videos about them in the past, maybe you should check them out.

it makes more sense that the monolith is directed and financed by moscow since the noosphere project started in soviet times and moscow always kept its secrets hidden from the kyiv government and i think that is why the government is unaware of what happens in the center of the area

All I have are unclear hunches and vague data points but hear me out; I think the bulk of the mercenaries, the one's we'll call the trs-301 crowd, are ex- or current French Foriegn Legion members working on behalf of France. First, in our and I'm sure stalkers world France is a preeminent country when it comes to nuclear sciences and their development. It is safe to say they would be fairly interested in the this strange development of the Chernobyl disaster especially since its already established the Ukrainian govt was being obtuse for years to the other European countries about what it was finding in there. Second, the FFL contains many members from eastern European countries so gathering a sufficient number of Ukrainian or others who would conceivably be able to blend in wouldn't be too much of an issue. Third, France could potentially have the space to be more heavy handed in their flooding of the zone with 'unknown' mercenaries given that most parties will likely just blame the more prominent NATO members/US or even private actors. Towards the end, and this is somewhat of a reach I know but it does hearken back to that last point about deniability, is the weapon most mercenaries use the LRS-301. It tries to scream look at how American I am while being so aesthetically chic, so... French. The particular variant seen in the zone stopped being made after the original company Z-M was bought by Para Ordinance, a US/Canadian gun company, in 2007. So, in summary I think the French govt acquired by way of Canada or US "missing" goods that IRL weren't selling too well and ended up in the hands of ex-FFL stalkers to make it look like other NATO countries were responsible for their actions.

Yeah, I'd never thought of that momentary connection (With Doc Breen / Siderovich) before, interesting stuff man - Is this 'Iceberg' thing a metaphor, or does it relate to something more specific in STALKER's (game or mod) world? Never heard of this term before in this context.
@anomalousdugout95572 жыл бұрын
The term Iceberg is indeed a metaphor to describe how deep the theories go.
